My laptop with Quikload has died, hence my request for some assistance:
If some kind soul could advise on the theoretical pressure increase, and resultant potential for over pressure, by altering the seating depth from 3.330 to 3.250.
Cartridge is 284W,
57.5gr N165
68.4gr H2O capacity
Case length 2.160
Much appreciated

Is that with a bullet seated H2o capacity?

Hmm, not what I wanted to see, but rather that than a face full of bolt shroud (at best).
Many thanks !

Is the shorter length that you want to try because of max mag size?
I'm happy to run the figures again with charge variation to fit that length.

My max h20 with a bullet seated was 60
120gr pro hunter
108gr hasler ariete was the same

Rs70 which I believe is similar burn to N165
Pro hunter was 53gr giving me 3200fps

108gr 52.5 warp speed Mr sulu

Both close to maximum

It's ammo I had from a previous rifle, would need to seat bullets deeper to chamber in new one, which is throated differentlt. It's only for barrel run in, so I'll just load new rounds.
Much appreciate your assistance though 🙂

No problem, I think you've made the right call.

Rebuilt at 54.0 gr and 3.240.
That should be a really nice load to shoot.

It's a 30" barrel, another thing I forgot to mention.
I've just noticed that the calc I ran was for a 17" barrel for another persons rifle, a 30" barrel makes quite a difference, around 350fps!

+00.0 100 54.00 2703 2920 52291 7658 99.8 1.535

If you have access to a chrono when your testing let me know your real life figures and I can tweak it and also look at OBT nodes.
Cheers

Many thanks. I have a good chrono. At the moment, it's just breaking in the barrel, hoping to get round to load development over next couple weeks, with an eye to having it at least competitive at 500/600 by the 26th November.
