A real trophy

Please don't mention Trophy, the Government will ban rat traps if that's what the are used for.

That’s ok il round them up and deposit them unharmed through starmer and cos letter box. Reckon one look at raynor and any self respecting rat would be out the door in fear immediately

Got to admit, there’s something very satisfying about seeing a rat in the trap of a morning as I walk up the garden path, sort of set’s you up for the day. 😊

Best thing was I heard it snap shut last night so also got a good night sleep.
The thump clunk as they go off in the attic always brings a smile to my face. We were away for Christmas and got home to find our bedroom ceiling sopping as a mouse has chewed through a water pipe in the loft. Declared war on the bastards after that and I've killed a good few this last month.

I usually get 50 plus mice every winter out of the attic. This year, not many. There was a (sounded like) rat dancing up there last night. It lives out in the wood pile, so I have a pavement detector which goes off whenever the rat is active out there so then grab the air rifle and try to catch it.. little bugger was all over the place, and I couldn't get a bead on it.

God that’s a nightmare they can be really destructive. Don’t seem to get the mice in the loft fortunately it’s the blasted rats.

I was threatened with eviction by my other half when I suggested I couldn’t up on the garage roof with the air rifle over a bait pile with the pard. Thought it was perfectly reasonable but obviously was wrong.

It's a pain in the arse because now I have to paint the bedroom ceiling and I only painted it 5 years ago when we moved in. I'm just glad the ceiling didn't come down, it was a close thing it was that wet.

I've got 6 traps up there now and they're getting a hiding

Hmm. Depends just how wet it was, very wet plasterboard has a rather endearing habit of heading floorwards some considerable time later, often after you have redecorated and usually just after you walk out of the room.
Happened to us the night before the mother-in-law (aka Jaws) came for her twice a year visit; of course it just had to be the guest room. Fortunately the insurance paid up promptly though I do confess to having a very bad thought when Lady FB expressed her concern at just how awful it would have been if the M-i-L had actually been in the bed…..

Another chonker. Don’t remember them being this big a few decades ago.
Funnily enough.....many years ago when I used to do a bit of rock fishing on the East coast, we were always "visited" by the biggest rats I'd ever seen that had obviously grown large and brazen on bait and scraps of food. They would even try and raid your bait box/bucket in front of you! Big as cats was the warning - not as big as a cat, but not to be messed with!
Back to the original beastie.....a new species maybe - Sabre toothed rat!
