I sent my old T8 moderator to Jackson Rifles on Tuesday. 2 days later I received my new ATEC H2 (Hertz 2) - they offer 6.5mm & .30" options in the UK. I chose the 6.5mm option with M14x1 thread.
Note that the moderator comes with 2 baffle sections only - less weight and less decisions for me then. I was expecting 3 as it shows up to 3 baffles anywhere you look online - an additional baffle will be available to purchase separately no doubt. With 2 modules my mod weighed in at 346g.
First impressions are very good. Very nice machining and hard anodising which is a matt and grippy finish. The trapezoidal type threads fit very closely and lock up very positively when screwing sections together or taking apart - very easy to unscrew sections so far, unlike with my smaller diameter and glossy ATEC CMM-4. I can see similarities in the baffles to the Wildcat Evo. It has a nice stainless birdcage style brake/diffuser - the machining of the slots on this aren't as precise as the perfectly machined aluminium parts. The base of the moderator has handy teardrop shaped flutes to help with grip when tightening/untightening.
The mod comes with an aluminium thread protector which is a nice touch. It also comes with a plastic coupon which seems to fit the recess with integral O-ring on the thread end of the mod. I assume that this coupon can be bored out to fit your barrel to keep debris from accumulating in the space between mod and barrel.
I'll go and check the fit on my 6x45 rifle later before bedtime, and hopefully shoot with it on the weekend to check zero before taking it out for the doe season possibly the following weekend. I'm sure it will be a bit quieter than the .30" ATEC CMM-4 that I've been using. Just realised that I'll have to remove the front sight as it's an over-barrel style mod - which will reduce the overall length of the rifle - yay!
I will also use it for my 220 Swift that is yet to be built, and my .270 when I make a M14x1 thread adapter to fit it.
To summarise:
1. Jackson Rifles have a gained another customer for life.
2. ATEC silencers will get repeat business because they're imported by Jackson rifles.
3. The process was easy, a whole lot cheaper and painless, hence the reason that I won't look elsewhere for moderators regardless of specs or performance.
