A UK stalker's trip to New Zealand

I'm just back from an awesome trip to NZ. I do plenty of stalking here, but I wanted to go somewhere where I wouldn't be hemmed in by boundaries and fences.
A friend persuaded me that I ought to make a video, so I did. The audio isn't always very good because I was just using my phone, but if you're interested here it is:

If anyone else is keen to do the same, just do it. It doesn't need to cost a fortune and you don't need to pay guides or outfitters if you're not trophy hunting. There is a tonne of info on the DOC website, some of it is a bit out of date but you can easily put your own trip together.

Respect great video

Great write up and video , I was there 2006 , met some students on the net and invited me over for a Thar hunt
I was 45 years old back then and It killed me physically but enjoyed every second
And managed to take a Thar trophy

That was great, lovely viewing on a wet Sunday for me and my eldest son. It makes us want to go to New Zealand one day. Obviously tramping up that river is more fun on screen than reality. Would love to do that in 10 years.

Another member told me about this thread. (Thanks Jagged77!) WOW!!!!! I am hoping to hunt red STAG in NZ, but at my age and advanced decrepitude, it will be with an outfitter and won't involve climbing mountains or fording rivers on foot!

Good on you!

Doug
