Advice needed please

Evening all, I could do with some advice from the SD massive as I know we are all from different walks of life and either someone knows what to do or someone has been in this predicament before. Long story short, Friday evening I was riding my motorbike home from work. I went through a crossroad and it was my right of way when a car pulled out on me, causing me to plough straight into it and proceed to slide down the side of the car. The car never stopped so I stupidly turned around and tried chasing it down however during the time it took me to start it back up and turn around he had gone, unbeknown to me down a 1 way system the wrong way. I lost any witnesses I had due to it and I am struggling with what to do. I didnt get the registration of the car, I do however know what car it was (make, model, colour) and also know there are cameras (both private and council) on the road. I have informed the police and obviously got nowhere, having phoned back today to be told the first fella didnt do his job properly and had to go over everything again. The lady has said she will get footage from the council but I have no idea how long this will take. I dont want to go down the insurance route as the bike isn't really worth the money for the cost of having to put down in the future I've had a claim and losing 8 or so years no claims bonus. A lot of people are looking for the car and keeping there eyes out however as yet no joy, I'm presuming it has gone into hiding until its repaired. It did cause me some injury, a broken finger and a knackered shoulder so I will likely be off work until all is better. I'm a mechanic and there isn't a great deal I can do with a hand in cast and a shoulder I can't move lol. Any advice or where to go would be much appreciated, sorry it's a long one! Thanks

If it were me the first thing I would do is inform the details you just gave us to your insurers. If the vehicle is located by camera it will make no difference if they repaired it, as there will be a paper trail to the repairs/parts.
Good luck, sounds like a civil action in the making..

Bleddy hell mate, at least you are sort of OK ( and not dead)

If you need a lift with anything , you know where I am

Ben , as the tit left the scene, he's in trouble and probably has no licence, insurance etc , what a cock

Just glad your ok bud :thumb:

Go to your insurers so they can chase the surveillance evidence. File a claim against the other party, when found, of damage, personal injury and loss if income. From what I’ve seen in the past with friends in similar circumstances, £20k-£50k sounds about right.

Sorry to hear about your accident. Hopefully you'll find the bustard responsible. When (if) you do, try this firm to help your case. I've not used them (thankfully) but they do come highly recommended by bikers with claims.
EDIT:- Having re-read your post regarding not claiming on your insurance, just be aware that insurers will ask if you've had an accident--whether a claim has been made or not. If an accident is not included on your insurance proposal, this could invalidate your policy. Insurers look for any way they can to not pay out on any future claim. Good luck with sorting this out.

Knock on doors ask if they have it on cctv ,at least your insurance Co can see you have a case and they may force the police to act ,as a hit and run ?
