Hi,
Can anyone with the tools tell me the minimum barrel length that will burn 95% of a powder charge, please.
Tikka T3V.
.222 Rem.
52 grain bullet. Also, if poss. 40 grain bullet.
Powder: Vhit N120 x 19 Grains.
Case water capacity: 28 grains, no meniscus.
Tia; Ken.

Can’t help with the question but for info my .222 Remmy loves 40 and 50gns bullets but would not stabilise the 52gns Vmax.

Which 52gr, and 40gr bullet ? Flat base or boat tail ?

What length are you trying to get down to, and can you use another powder ?
Hi,
Thinking 18” or even 16” 😱
I could go faster with Vhit N110, I think.
Flat base bullets.
Thanks, Ken.

Hmmm,
My T3 shoots the 55 grain BergerFB TARGET bullets more accurately than the 52sand they are exceptional.Ken.

Would some look at at the calcs from P-Max and how they differ from what Bavarianbrit posted re percentages of powder burned in shorter barrels?
Thanks, Ken.

Good idea Kenbro, except the program he has used (QL?) asks for case volume H2o. P-Max uses a different method in that it uses Case Capacity H2o with bullet seated. So wouldn't give a like for like answer in his case - not a pun:)

Ha, my bad, I hadn’t picked up on the bullet seated part.
Thanks much for the lesson. 🤣👍😘
