In this article Ron Thomson explores the challenges and misunderstandings of conservation

He also suggests that animal rightism fits the definition of organised crime

Ps

Read to the end for a summary of Ron’s experience - 60 years as a game ranger in Rhodesia/ Zim

Further to my last

Kavango Zambezi Transfrontier Conservation Area (KAZA TFCA) have recently published their KAZA Elephant survey and conclude that current elephant numbers are at about 228,000 elephant

They are suggesting that this is a stable population for this area

I've not yet read the reports in full so I can't comment on whether these numbers are sustainable within the space available to them

Further to my further

Though I have the greatest respect for Ron Thomson, a little part of me can't help but feel that if numbers exceed sustainable levels in Kruger and W.a.n.k.i.e and other national parks, I'd sooner see a culling of humans and greater space made available for the wildlife than the other way round .....

....but that's just me in a reflective moment

As you were

I'm pretty sure David Attenborough has made similar comments several years ago!
