How often are people annealing their Lapua.

For example, after how many passes F/L resizing ?

Who is best man for the job ?

Cheers

For consistency you should be annealing every time you re-use a brass case.

I’ll be honest and contrary to popular view but it’s become a trend. For hunting ammunition you can expect 5 to 10 reloads from a case and not see any particular degradation in accuracy. Split necks might start to appear depending on chamber dimensions. But after reloading a case X number of times the chances are you are losing more brass in the grass. Chuck it out and buy some more. What you save in time and the investment in equipment you get is well worth the £130-£170 for lapua brass now days. Of course this is just my humble opinion.

Target shooting is a different matter and annealing can mean that 300 cases last the life of a barrel. The investment in an Aztec is quite enticing when it comes to running 2 or three match rifles.

It’s gets quite scary when you work out how much money goes through during its life.

I briefly read that the annealing was required to ensure the tensile stresses in the brass remain fairly consistently in the neck ... So I can understand after every firing.

It is 6.5CM calibre.

What's typical cost for sending 250 cases to be annealed ?

If you feel that you’ll benefit from the greater consistency in grip on the bullet which annealing can give then you are correct that it should be done for each loading cycle (or not at all) - the AMP research articles have the best information on this point.

Look for someone with an AMP annealer (not any other type) to provide the service but in the long run it would be best to buy your own AMP machine for convenience plus their resale value is high so you won’t loose much if you sell it later especially bearing in mind what you’ll have saved by not paying someone to do it for you.

I appreciate the advice. I'll look for someone who can do it for me, to avoid hassle from the Mrs
