(Another) First Roe Buck

purely out of interest , and following on from your question about leaving to colour up naturaly , would you leave it to clean up next time ,or still shoot in velvet , there is no right or wrong answer, just interested to see your veiw on it , atb with scoring it , regards arron.
Depends on how my orchard is doing. But I'll probably leave any bucks until later in the season next time.

I got it measured by CIC at the BDS tent at the CLA Game Fair yesterday. Very pleased with my silver medal, also pleased that even if he had been left to shed his velvet and get some colour he wouldn't have achieved gold (this year!).

Yes, I have some walnut that I am going to use to make a shield with a recess for the medal. Then I need to cut the skull. Just wondering whether to make a jig for the table saw, or if my finest blade would smash rather than cut. Will probably soak the skull for a few days to soften it, and make it less brittle.

I've heard that a Dremel is the best bet to cut a skull thatsbalread been boiled and dried etc. think the table saw might smash it (I'd not risk it myself).
