Anti-fog

Hi guys I’m off to Scotland in November. Last time I went I had a lot of fogging of optics and had to have a tissue on hand to keep wiping binoculars and scope. Are there any spray on solutions to this for anti-fogging that work?

What ever you do don't put the exterior Rainex water dispersant on the lenses as I have found it holds early morning fogging very well until the windscreen warms up, the anti fog should be OK though

Not trying to throw a spanner in but are these aftermarket products suitable for a specialised coated glass like scopes and binos?

They're designed to be compatible with coated visors, so I would hazard a guess that they're not going to cause any damage. Especially as they don't get 'polished-in', just wiped on and allowed to dry. I've not experienced any issues, anyway :thumb:

I use Rain-X on my glass. It's an anti-fog for motorbike helmets, and it works pretty well.

Rain-X Interior Glass Anti-Fog - Rain-X

Pretty sure you can't use it on visors, it's for use on glass. If you check the box it says it somewhere. On the flip side, it never stopped me lol. Try some scope dope from Rob at monarch country products on here

Edit-rainx should not be used with plastic or coated surfaces due to the damage it causes!

I used to use neat fairy liquid or similar on my visors when I had a bike. Coat the surface with neat liquid and polish off use to work quite well and cheap.

I've tried various anti fog products on my glasses, I can't get on with them, it looks like I've wiped them of a fish and chip wrapper and when I get them clean, there's not enough on them to stop the fogging.
