Looking to sell my rifle soon as I’ve decided to have a custom rifle built for myself.

Details are

Ruger M77 mk2 circa 1998
7x57 calibre
Screw cut 1/2 UNF
22 inch barrel
Rifle Basix adjustable trigger
Boyds featherweight thumbhole laminate stock
Picatinny rail conversion

Original walnut stock & factory trigger will go with it.

The rifle is in lovely condition & has seen light use throughout its life

Any idea what it’d be worth……

Keep it

Thanks for the replies. In an ideal world I’d keep it but I don’t have the space & I don’t have good reason for 2 rifles in the same calibre
Looks like the best thing to do will be part it out when the time comes

Do you still use it? If so, there'll be good reason in there somewhere if you do want to keep it. Perhaps, with the modifications to use on the range. Or as a backup rifle for stalking if you do a fair bit. Although if you don't have the space, then you'd have to think about upsizing the cabinet or getting another small one.

Apples and oranges I know , but that rifle would sell for about 450 pounds over here . Unlike the UK , the 7X57 is very popular in these parts . It wouldn't last long on the used market . If it were practical , I'd take it off you in a heart beat . Unfortunately it would cost more to get it here than it's worth .

The chambering will help the sale, the 7x57 or 275 Rigby is still a great cartridge for all our deer here in the uk hard hitting light recoil and at one time bull elephant slayer. The 77 is one of the better American rifles and the RB trigger is a big improvement on the original. Moderator ready with a nice stock. Hope you find a buyer soon.

Just had a look on Guntrader and found this . . . .

Given that these chancers are usually a couple of hundred quid dearer than anyone else I reckon my estimate of £350 was dead on the money

If you happen to be in the USA. UK less so..
Can’t see that shifting anytime soon

Unfortunately the screw cutting will devalue it to many buyers.
I think you are probably behind the times somewhat with that. Most people will knock the value of a given rifle. By the cost of a screw cutting job. I paid more for threading than I did for one rifle.
So I have to agree with @25 Sharps
I don’t think so, particularly for that rifle, in fact I would suggest for a lot of people now not being screw cut would decrease the value as people want to use moderators

As to the OP’s question. Have you looked at GunTrader etc? I would look there and price accordingly. ie see what private sales are priced at and probably take a bit off the average dealer price. Then see what that gives you.

The 7x57 in a (gag!) Model 77 Ruger is not a common rifle. I agree that threading the barrel would decrease the collector's interest -especially if it involved removing or mounting the front sight. The thumb hole stock is another detractor from the potential collector. It is now a barreled action, value wise. Might bring a few hunderd dollars here.

I would keep it.~Muir
