Any pipe smokers on here?

I quit smoking cigarettes 17 years ago but always promised myself that if I lived to 80 I'd take up pipe smoking. I tried it in my youth and loved it.

Well, I've jumped the gun. 56 next year and I'm back on the pipe. Slight difference though - I don't inhale, just puff and cycle the smoke round my throat and nose without taking it into my lungs so I can savour the scent and flavour without coughing and gasping or becoming addicted. The best way to really enjoy tobacco.

I have to say, I'm thoroughly enjoying it. No coughing and wheezing; no addiction; just intensely soothing, warming and relaxing.

I've got two Ratterays briars and a Barling briar (and a selection of tobacco jars on the sideboard..)

My go-to evening smoke is Gawith Hogarth Exclusiv black cherry, which tastes and smells wonderful and doesn't taint the house with a stale stale tobacco smell. At work, at coffee time I smoke GH American coffee and caramel, sharpened with a pinch of GH Black Cavendish. Health puritans will probably say I'm mad, but I don't think so. I thoroughly recommend grown-up pipe smoking. But it is a somewhat expensive hobby...

Yes, but not often, cigars too.
Pipes are another rabbit hole of collecting.

I smoke roll ups when the urge takes me. But also enjoy a cigar in the summer when you can take some time over them. I wouldn’t mind trying a pipe but wouldn’t know where to start.
 
I used to smoke a pipe and found it very relaxing and enjoyable. My favourite was a Black Cherry mix. The only reason I have given up with my pipe is because of health reasons but I can still sit next to someone smoking a pipe and really enjoy the smell of it!

Can’t beat the smell of good pipe tobacco but never enjoyed them the same way a cigar does for me. They are phenomenal midge repellent though.
 
You can usually tell a pipe smoker by a single, slightly misplaced tooth - off which he hangs his pipe. Usually on his right hand side.
 
I gave up rollies when I was in my late 20s, in favour of a pipe, after a couple of years went back to the rollies. Gave up again for 20 odd years and thinking it was safe, started to have the odd one when smoking friends came around. Now I’m back full time and needing to stop again, after reading this, I think I’ll break out my grandpa’s old ‘Apple’ again.
Sweet peach was my favourite, followed by black cherry
 
My goto when out in the field is a falcon frame with 2 or 3 bowls filled ready and wrapped in a square of foil, don't have to worry about losing or braking a cherished briar 👍
 
Hi Finch spot on the button with the G&W black cherry. I started again at 80 and have a couple of Peterson's and some tampers made and generously donated by a very kind bloke on here. My favourite is a Meerschaum and it does make a perfect smoke. I don't inhale but it is still addictive.
