Anyone know the best way to claim from Royal Mail for a mis-delivered package?

On hold to them now, estimate an hour or so wait...

Mailed a small tool to the USA on Dec 10th
It's arrived back with me today, undelivered, with a huge red foreign label
Seems that even though ALL the address info said USA, the postal types thought it'd prefer a mince around La Belle France for a few weeks instead..!!
ANOTHER Royal Mail SNAFU - to add to a long list of them!

The joke is that the tracking says DELIVERED - having arrived at the Durham area depot at 05.53 it's down as delivered, in FRANCE, just before midday.
That's some van they've got..!

They've become an absolute joke in some quarters, haven't they? I sent my FAC away 'guaranteed next day delivery, Ten days it took the useless assholes to deliver it. Ten frigging days. And even then it took them a fortnight to refund the postage. No apology, nothing

It'll be worth waiting on the phone for an hour , just so that you can hear how many reasons they come up with why its all your fault , and nothing whatsoever to do with them 😁.
My Mrs decided to start claiming for all of her parcels that get lost/miss delivered/stolen/dumped . She had £35 ish last week from royal mail(two claims) , and so far this week , she's waiting for £90 from UPS .
Some weeks she can lose a dozen parcels . Sometimes the parcel value is only a fiver , but other times it can be over hundred quid , and it's just too much for a small company to continuously absorb.

They lost the Mrs personalised necklace that was collected from our door my royal mail, sent guaranteed next day only to be lost
We did a claim, had to fill in a form online for it. Luckily we had insurance as it was a pricey item, it said it could take up to 30days to resolve and then we received a cheque and letter confirming they had made a mistake ....

I posted a cheque to an address in Auchterarder, about 14 miles from where I stay. I took 17 days to get there. I could have walked there, and back, quicker. But no refund because it had been delivered " successfully". Hmmm

Royal Mail and Parcelforce tracking is a joke, their service is not funny !
China has an excellent parcel delivery system and tracking is spot on and updated more than once a day.
Sadly there is absolutely nothing you can do as there is no better competition

Had two tracked items go missing last year - one vanished and the other was delivered as just the packaging. First one they tried calling the recipient a liar and that it was delivered, we both then complained and then it was quoted mis delivered. Recent one was packaged so well, you could have kicked it round a car park for an hour - turns up slashed across the label with nothing in it. Claimed the max both times at £50 a go but still down £150 odd.

Had a business 24hr tracked item sent to me - took 7 days! Spoke to my friendly postie whos spot on and he said they had 17 bags of parcels and 1200 lateral flow kits sitting there due to RM covid sickness.

Posted stuff I sold last week last tuesday and its only starting to drip feed into the recipients hands today. They seemed to have fallen over.

Small plus is at least you got yours back.

Once sent a LR power steering box via Parcelfarce. At the time it was worth about £150 as a core unit ( good unit for recon) so paid the £20 odd pounds postage and at additional cost added the insurance (£150 max).
Obviously the box went missing and I had to claim.
Naturally I claimed the £150 price of the box and asked for the postage back seeing as they had failed to provide the service.
Oh no Sir the maximum is £150
Yes but that was the value of the contents and you failed in what I paid you for; Please refund me £170 odd pounds!
Maximum claim is £150 Sir.
Yes I get that but seeing as I paid you £25ish for the service that you failed to provide what you are actually saying is the LOSS not the contents is limited to £150 so in reality your insurance is only worth £125!!!!!!

Arrggghhh total waste of space!
I decided then never to use Parcelforce again as they are useless.

Royal Fail, I once trusted them to deliver a rifle scope, sent well packed and fully insured.
It arrived with the main tube bent, tried claiming, nope not covered, just like any other object that contains glass, which
cannot be insured, I pointed out that the glass was intact and undamaged, just the metal tube, still no go.
Makes selling scope a little risky unless face to face.

Neil.
