Anyone slimmed down a Quake Claw?

Great grippy sling, but just a tad wide, so just wondered if anyone had trimmed the wings on a Claw at the top to make it more rectangular and thinner.

Looks like all the strength is the middle inch, so trimming shouldn’t effect it’s integrity.

Just wondered if anyones done it and what their thoughts were.

Proposed modification.

Cut it off provided you don't cut the webbing you have no strength worries. When first cut you may find the square edges catch your clothing but that soon stops. Sorry don't have any pictures of the one I did.

Have to ask - did you find it better or worse?

It was along time ago I don't really remember it being an issue on the shoulder, I did it so it would fit easily into the scabbard on the quad, for that it was get and stopped pulling the lining out.

Having been out this morning, have to say that I don’t think I’ve improved it. 🙄

Grippy and tacky as usual, but noticeably more consolidated weight focused in one spot, making it a tad uncomfortable after nearly 5 hours.

Obvious really 🙄

This thread got me thinking and today I got stuck in. The thought process was that of rather than remove material why not re-profile/reposition, and in so doing create a sling with suspension-like qualities that is very comfortable to use with a heavy rifle and still stays put on the shoulder:
