Apologies for absence

Some of you may have noticed that I have not been online for 2/3 weeks, but I have not been in the best of health - honest. I tripped over my own feet in the house and went down on my side onto a nest of oak tables which in turn launched me against the lounge wall which I slid down using my face to regulate the speed of descent. Where the tables connected with me was just in the kidney area and took every bit of wind out of me, oh and I cut my ear. Which meant I ended up in A&E in Kings Lynn, where I got stitched up.

It was the small hours before we got to go home and I thought we might see a few deer, all I saw was one woodcock sitting in the middle of the A47.

The next day I was not too bad and was expecting a few days soreness. The day after that it was like every knock, bang, accident etc. that I had had during my life popped in to say hello, I have never felt so bad in my life. I hardly slept during the night and could not stay awake during the day. I think it's mother natures way of telling me I am not a young man anymore and the bounce backs for such events in the past are well gone. Well the old gal got her point across, its a sobering thing to be reminded of your age frailties, don't like it at all. Still feel like crap, so enjoy bouncing while you still can because it's a bugger when you can't.

Stop looking at your avatar!!!! Feel for you, one of the labs ran into the back of my legs the other day and I went over backwards, took about 10 minutes to get my breath back and get up, not helped by being licked to death by all 4 of the labs while I was sitting there.

The good news is your on the mend,
get well soon

kind rgds.

PS the worst thing about getting old is !

remembering when you were young.

Here ear to that, get well soon.
Ken.

John, the stuntman days are over now however when i have too much whiskey i see birds in the road and sometimes big reds:rofl: atb mate take it easy

Hope you get better soon John. I can empathise as I did something similar 4 months back and have still not recovered. In my case, I fell during my son's school sports day where, foolishly in my 50's, I entered the Dad's race...twice the age of most of competitors. Tripped over my own feet onto rock hard ground and landed heavily following which I was carted off to A&E where I was diagnosed with multiple fractures of my right side ribs and a breaks in the top one. Still hurts like hell 16 weeks on!!!

Get well soon. Looks like a real sore one.
I went into hospital feeling like a bloke in his late thirties (actually 51) - after a year and some five months feel like a grandad in his seventies.
Amazing how Mother Nature catches you!

Ed

Never met but sorry to read about your misfortune and wishing you a speedy recovery John. Just remember that, although it might be slower, an old ball still bounces!

Looks nasty, these things happen when least expected.
I found myself temporarily trapped under a wheelie bin full of granite chips a while ago. Couldn't make it up and a totally freak accident which nearly broke my legs. Afterwards thought I had went a match with Frank Bruno :)

Wish you all the best mate...sure you'll be out there again soon! Ahhh...fond memories of visiting Kings Lynn A&E as a kid on holiday when id trodden on a nail or nearly cut my finger clean off with a hedge trimmer! You've brought it all back...thanks JAYB! ;-) ATB
