Hi All,

Looking for what's out there.

Realistically after a HK416, would love a Tippmann or Kriss, but budget wise might be pushing it at a stretch.

Would consider an S&W M&P 15-22, but not massively keen on the full polymer frames.

Thanks in advance,

Chris

15/22 with 12” barrel (bug buster 3x12 scope ) send me a pm with an offer . 1 50 round drum 3 x standard mags .

Magpul upgrade grips and stock .

Looked at a lot of ar style .22lr earlier this year, dont rule out the sw 15-22.
Parts are easily avaiable and huge amaount of upgrade parts.
A lot of the hk Colt type .22lr are made by Umarex wihich have shocking trigger.
The 15-22 is designed and built as a .22 semi auto the others are adapted.

The polymer is strong and none of the moving parts touch the polmer in anyway.

Cheers for that, I need to see if I can get hands on on a S&W. I've gotten to use the tippmanns and HK a decent amount through my clubs and liked the weight from the full metal frames, so that's what kind of puts me off the idea of the polymer's lightness.

Have a look at a SIG 522. I was in a gun shop a few years ago and there was a SIG next to a S&W on the shelf. I handled both and the S&W felt like a toy compared to the SIG.

Thanks, will have a look. I think I remember seeing one in a local shop as well, but if its what I'm thinking of that specific one had an absolutely obscene amount of up/down wiggle from the stock (to the point you couldn't consistently sight down it). Probably just a case of a screw loose or something... Will see if I can look at a different example of one.

If your budget can stretch have a look at these all metal from calibre innovations
At £1150 not a huge amount more vs a MP15-22

Thanks, those do look pretty, but well above what I could afford/justify at the moment.

Think a new M&P would set me back £650/700 😅
Definitely look for a Kriss if you can. Good bits of kit and all metal so doesn’t feel like a toy

I am also contemplating just biting the bullet and seeing about getting a brand new one on finance... Just got the quote for a "shiny bauble" for the partner's finger, which 1) made my heart palpitate and tightens up the purse strings for any treats for myself, but 2) makes me think how affordable all these guns are...

Seconding the real AR from calibre innovations. Their spendier option is the borebuddy upper which is very very nice (and what I would buy if I were currently in the market for a .22 semi upper). They are also now doing historic repros in .22 if you want an actual M4 or an XM22 (see their faceache page).

The 15/22 is fine if you want a really lightweight rifle but I wouldn't get one otherwise. Lots of aftermarket parts/upgrades specific to the 15/22.

I've tried the Kriss early on (had broken parts and constant reliability issues which I hear from a lot of Kriss owners), I've looked at the lookalikes which (as mentioned by someone else) are often Umerex or other companies taking a different rifle they make and making cosmetic changes so it looks like an AR but really isn't. Terrible triggers, nonstandard parts, etc.

I have .22 semi auto uppers and .223 straight pull uppers I use on the same lowers, if you go milspec AR you can use the lower for several different uppers (.22, .223, 6.5 grendel, 300 blackout, etc) so if you want other calibres you can save the cost of the lower/trigger/grip/stock which you can't do with any of the lookalikes or the polymer ones. You can also use any of the wide array of standard AR parts on the market for stocks, handguards, grips, etc. You can also get the "Better mag adaptor" and use the S&W 15/22 mags to get proper last round bolt hold open, etc, in .22.

The met also don't seem to count a "barrel and action" (which is what the met have my additional uppers listed as) as a full rifle for the limits before they want increased security levels like alarm that contacts the police, cameras, etc.

I have an M&P performance centre (match barrel and chamber) going for £600 with 10 and 25 round magazines and a bunch of aftermarket upgrades (will also send the factory parts). See my classified ad 🙂

Currently waiting to hear back about a tippmann, but will keep you in mind :)

If you are looking to get a rifle for minirifle competitions, I recommend the m and p, I have put 3000 rounds through mine (CCI Tactical) never missed a beat, Lantac, Tipmann owners always replacing bits and pieces.
