Are you stocking up?

Spoken to a few friends in the US and have seen a few comments on here about shortages of ammunition and reloading components in the US

based on this I plan to buy my allocation of 22LR and stock up on reloading components.

is anyone else doing this?

when I lived in the US in 2014-2016 there was a major shortage of 22LR, it could be a pain to get so I wonder if the shortfall will hit the U.K. soon.

seems like anytime political instability or doubt hits the US the doomsday preppers start burying ammo as fast as they can get it!

If you shoot a lot, it makes absolute sense to me to keep topped up - maybe if an infrequent shooter, then it is not so much of a concern. Personally i'm with you and topped up months ago.:)

I have moved to European brands/suppliers long ago whereever possible as I was sick and tired of this US-BS. So, no, I will not stock up.

I will say, in my case it’s not huge amounts - I usually buy 2 x 100 packs of primers but this time I’m buying a 1000 pack type of thing.

And I’ve bought an extra box of bullets for each caliber.

Article 16 🧐, what if they spit the dummy again
Being neither a UK citizen nor living in the UK, I had to look this up - both 'Article 16' and the term 'to spit the dummy' 😇.

But I am confident that things will settle for you guys. The EU is so much closer than the US.

Only a matter of time before those european johnnies think they are going to run out of something or see that we have something and they do not. Can you just see the dummy flying children?

Yes. Bought some more powder and primers. Esp after reading what Spud1967 said about potentially 18months for a primer restock.

I get through 2000 rounds of .22LR every 3 weeks so I'm trying to increase my allowance to 3000 from 2000

Can't do that at the mo as Dev and Cornwall are not taking variations

I am keeping a weather eye on supplies

Lock down doesn't help

There is domestically produced .22LR ammo so we are covered for that.

Powder and primers is the worry, if the USA puts in enough orders and backorders to the point that they can fill a few cargo ships, do you really think they will prioritise sending a few lowly containers worth to the UK?

I always have my allowance of rimfire so no change there. I've bought enough powder, primers and bullets for a year or so but lockdown was as much part of that as the story stateside as I mail ordered and wanted to minimise carriage costs. :-D

I have suggested to my friends who usually buy factory rounds that they might want to buy a box of bullets so that they can use my kit to reload in a pinch.

I have enough hunting ammo and reloading stuff to see me out. .22, I've got a few thousand in stock and enough practice .308 for the next few years. Norma and Vit powder readily available from my LGS

Same here, a little bit extra of all I need for reloading (1 calibre only) to keep me covered for a year or so.
Its difficult to predict how this year will pan out so best to plan for the worse😳

It’s crossed my mind several times recently. So I have pretty much maxed my RF ammo allowance, also found my cf rifle doesn’t do too bad on PPU so bought a bunch of that. Thinking may have a dabble in getting a tub of powder, primers, some bullets and a Lee loader. Got plenty of once fired brass.

That's some amount of ammo! Must have lots of rabbits around your area 😂

I suspect that you’re a bit late to the party. A lot of retailers are already sold out from what I can see.
