Wanted: Army and Navy

Hello,

After a foray into continental guns, then wanting things beyond my pay grade, I've come to my senses and come back to Birmingham made guns.

Of particular interest at the moment is Army & Navy spec'd sxs guns (mostly from Brum trade).

I'm after higher grade guns in good condition. Other than that, not fussed on stock length, chokes, whether it's boxlock or sidelock. Any bore, but I'd find any sub-12 very interesting!

Probably not much out there, but do let me know if you have anything gathering dust I could take a look at?

As an addendum, as long as the barrels are in good condition (no pitting or dangerously thin), I'm not afraid of a restoration job.

Might be worth phoning Duncan at Croxton country stores.
I wouldn't be surprised at all if had one.

He's been quite helpful so far, so I'll drop him a line.

Holts do some interesting shotguns etc. and their July auction isn't to far away.

Yes, always an option. However, they've become quite commercial recently; the prices in the last auction were obscene!

I have a sidelock ejector Army and Navy with a big folder of its history. I’ll look it out later, I shoot it periodically and it’s very well balanced.
Sounds promising, feel free to PM me.

Hi,

I just looked it out and took some photos. I also found the provenance and after reading the top page don’t feel that it is something I should sell. I acquired it as it was my late uncle’s and I was the only relative that shot and held SGC, Good luck in your search. I can confirm that they are a joy to shoot, wand like. Most of my shotgun shooting is done with a Benelli SA so this sits in the cabinet.

i know what you mean ive been stunned at the prices at the last couple of auctions
I think it's mostly down to international (USA) bidders?

Looks a lovely thing, I really don't blame you for wanting to keep it!
