ATN X-Sight 4K Pro – SIMPLY FANTASTIC

And putting the prices up
By £100 for the X Sight 4K Pro 5-20 model, making it approx £1050 now

By comparison, a PARD NV008 scope, with all the important stuff (like a really good built in IR illuminator) and none of the unnecessary bells and whistles that are on an X Sight, costs less than £600

Cheers

Just buy direct from ATNeu in stock and £950 lol

Just seen this on Facebook, is this you cliff?

Unbelievable!!!

ATN quote ITAR infringements for a product that is not covered by ITAR (digital NV riflescope) , yet they themselves circumvent ITAR by bringing into the UK thermal riflescopes (which are covered by ITAR) direct from the manufacturer - who is not in the USA and therefore outwith the scope of ITAR
Yet another reason NOT to do any business with ATN - they are truly a **** company.

Cheers

TWO QUICK UP-DATES

Having seen the recent post about “Optical Solutions” all I know is Cliff is an honorable guy, who on his own merit validates any warranty himself. No doubt he himself will soon add clarifications to the recent post on this forum.

On the PARD NV008 I have one and use it side by side the ATN 4K Pro.

It’s a good piece of kit, but only out to 200 metres, I found it difficult for reliable head shots on eye reflection fox shots after that. I think it is a brilliant well constructive piece of kit for shorter distance work, on rabbit bashing at night etc. and shorter distance fox work. I also think it makes a great hand spotter, to use along side the ATN 4K Pro. You can spot with it well beyond 200 metres with a quality Ir, 200 max with the internal one. It has a picatinny moulded into the casing to mount an additional IR or a neck harness. It also fits in the pocket f the average jacket for safe keeping between shots.

My lamp man loved it!!! He could see the action!!! for himself.

I’ve used it with the same Ian Sirrell Ir as the ATN, and it’s simply not as good at 200 yards plus, hence the price difference. (I know because I use them both together on a regular basis)

But none the less, a great piece of kit, and it makes a very worthy spotter, and is well worth the money.

Finally the PARD NV008 needs a picatinny rail, and I prefer my opiti-locks on centre-fire!!.

Which IR is that?

Ian Sirrell’s produces the best ir I have used, namely the Sirius XT - Google him great servce and price

I have his XTL, which you might find a better match for the Pard NV008 and similar HD NV units - others are reporting ranges far in excess of what you are experiencing with it.

As per EU regulations, official ATN representative in the EU must take take care of warranty for all of their products regardless where in the world they were bought and how they were imported to EU.

What an interesting thread, lots of different views on the ATN 4K. I'm a newcomer to the forum, not so much a newcomer to ATN, I recently swapped in my PARD 7 for a 4K Pro 3 -14. For me and my night shooting the 4K has been a better option - with an 850nm torch I can see rabbits and foxes out to 250m. Yes, the display does lose clarity when zoomed to 6x plus but for me, that's okay, I shoot mostly at 125m maximum. I try to call foxes in closer to around 100m where I'm zeroed and I really can't complain with the ATN although I'm sure Charlie would, if he had time to think about it. I've added the auxiliary laser and this last week I've used that with success on foxes at 134m and 152m. Overall, I'm a satisfied ATN user.

I have a Yukon XT, it's in the cupboard no longer attached to my 22LR, that now has an ATN. I've never used a Pulsar so I can't compare those.

I guess it comes down to what works best for the individual.

Jeez, my post above sounded a bit up-my-own-ar*e, I do apologise, it wasn't meant that way and I wish I'd edited it a bit better before posting.

Just to clarify, I'm not using the IR illuminator that came with the sight. There is a chap in Lynton/Lynmouth that sells IR torches through eBay under the Opticfire branch. I don't work for him nor am I affiliated, he's just handy to buy from because to me he's fairly local. If you do try him, I'm sure you'll find him helpful and knowledgeable. He also sells PARD kit. His Opticfire torches come with options of IR wavelength, focus, battery capacity and power levels. With my 4K, I am using a three power 850nm LED, 2 x 18650 batteries and the 67mm head unit. I find this is a good setup and as above, it will be lighting up eyes out to 250m. The three power option on the IR torch is a good option to choose because I like to use low power then ramp it up when need be. I also have a 760nm LED (I think it's 760nm) which enhances detail but at the cost of being more visible. I switch between the two and when I have used 760nm, it's not spooked Charlie enough to make them shy away.

One thing to be mindful of the ATN is that even with the rubber eyepiece in place, there is a lot of visible white light coming out the back of the unit, something to think about from a concealment perspective.

Please don't think I'm a ATN junky, I have a decent regular scope which I quite fancy adding a Pulsar 155 front mount IR unit onto, when the PPI money comes in :)

If I'm being critical, the ATN's daytime performance is not great and in bright sunlight it can be difficult to pick out detail even with the sunshade in place. I understand some users have fitted solid caps with an aperture, I've not tried that.

So, in my opinion, the ATN 4K suites my night-time shooting and I'd say it is worth considering if you shoot mainly at night and you've worked out what is the best illuminator for your quarry at distances your comfortable with. If you want a 50/50 day/night scope that works well at night but can also see a sparrow at 300m in bright sunlight, I'd say consider something else. So far I've had no issues with performance so I can't say how good or bad their customer service is.

Bought an ATN 4k 5 - 20 yesterday. Wish I hadn't. I came with charge in the battery that was enough to zero it. I switch it of when I finished and tried to turn it on to go shooting and it wont turn on again. It had 8 hours charging but still would not turn on again after less than an hour use all together. I put it back on charge for hours but no difference. I had a pulsar NV550 for about 10 years with no problem and updated to the ATN. The ATN has the potential to be good but now reading up it looks like there is a high failure rate when new.

Hi one Tikka here.

I'm no techy, I just want to simply shoot lamp shy foxes, so I’ve no intension of using rangefinders, video clips etc, Bluetooth, and other gimmicks, (even if they are available on the unit) I just want to covertly shoot the few left lamp shy foxes left, out to 300 yards having zeroed in at 200 with 3500 fps 50 grain Vmax boot-tail bullets!!!! to me the rest is no more than a video game, best played at home in the comfortable surroundings of a heated lounge, rather than out until 2am, in the back of a freezing pick-up, arguing all night with a equally grumpy three-man team including lamper, shooter and driver. However, I have reached the grand old age of 60, and having shot 312 foxes in the last year over 14000 acres of land, and repeated such juvenile behaviour for at least two nights a week, for over the past 40 years, I'm probably past my “sell by date” in this modern world!!! And certainly too old to change!!!! Yours in respectful Jest
you must be my long lost twin brother?

I sold my ATN X-Sight at a big loss because I just could not find a practical use for it.
Here in WA it should have been ideal. Lots of open paddocks and plenty of foxes.
However I had issues.
1. The focus was stiff slow and absolutely necessary if you wanted to see anything.
2. ANY object in the close field of view will light up and dazzle you.
3. I just could not get a sense of objective with this scope. Especially in the bush.
4. It was heavy and unwieldy.
5. It was way slow to crank up and required careful setting of all the options before going out hunting.

In all it is a bit of a one trick pony.

The ATN 4K sure splits opinion, eh?

I won't say mine is faultless, because it does on rare occasion lockup and need a reboot.

With my new laser it's picking up rabbits at 160m, and on my 22WMR it's exactly what I need for rabbits out to 90m and fox within humane ranges.
And here's one extra plus I discovered last night, I can shoot left and right handed with it.

If I can find some 22WMR subsonic in a local gunshop today, I'm going to dial those ballistics into my 4K and let the rangefinder do all the mathematics. Another plus for the 4K!!

The one I sent back you struggled to move the focus, it was that stiff it could not be used on a target. When the sight worked it was great on an open field but as you say you could not dial in to turn down the brightness for a close in reflector unlike the Pusar. You need to go into settings to turn it down. I had 7 trips out with it 2 of which I had to come back because it did not work at all. I had another trip where I had a target in front of me put the gun of and the screen had turned itself of. It was at least 30 minutes before it would turn back on. I sent it back and I have been waiting 10 days for the replacement. What they don't tell you is you need to plug it into windows 10 computer to update it before you start to use it. I don't have a windows 10 computer so they said to find someone who has and get them to update the software. They know that they have sent these out for sale with problems. I could of drove to ATN UK in an hour and been up and running to use The sight. But it has to go back to the shop, then the distributor first. Looks like l will be telling them to keep it and give me the money back.

I don't know if this will help or wind you up more but here goes...

Windows 10 upgrade is free.
Set the 4K screen brightness to 2, I've never needed to change mine from 2.
Use a laser, I have a Wraith.
Yes, the focus on mine is stiffer than on my glass optic but it's not so stiff to turn, is it? It will free up over time.

The 4K is an electronic device, it's not going to be exactly the same as a glass optic and I've found if I think of it as such, I can get the best out of it.

Thank you for the help.
Windows 10 was free but when I inquired they now they want a fee and then an annual fee to keep it current. They are also now recommending not to put it on older computers. I did get the software up to the latest version but it still failed badly freezing the screen and not able to turn it of until the battery ran flat.
If mine had been replaced I would try your fix.
I did but a laser to use with it but I have not had chance to use it before it failed again and it was returned.
My focus is extremely its a two had on the sight job and not practical with the gun in the shoulder on sticks. I am used to the electronic sights and started 30 years ago with military type generation 1 green sights. I have been using a Pulsar 550 for a number of years. As I say the ATN was good when it worked and I never had a miss. Problem was it was unreliable and it seems a bit hit and miss with there quality control and support.
