Auto powder dispenser

Pray do tell please - what are these mods you applied?

You can enter a settings menu to change the parameters. Basically tell it to run at full speed closer to the finished charge weight. I’ve not got the instructions on hand but I’m sure if you search it should come up maybe on Snipers Hide or UKV.

The other simple mod is to find plastic straws, (maybe more tricky these days) and cut a length to fit the very end of the dispensing tube. If the straw is too small then nest them together to create a push fit, tapering the end so the powder enters smoothly. The smooth straw enables .1 grain adjustments easily with no clumping.

There's a way to reprogram the motor speed and timings on the Chargemaster. Well, years ago when I first got my Chargemaster, there was a way that you could type in a new series of codes to achieve this, so I gave it a go and it worked absolutely fine and has loaded thousands of rounds since. Not sure if the hack still works on the newer machines as the old one is still going strong!

Although I've not used it yet, but have calibrated it and checked it's working, I got a Lyman Gen6 from Amazon. Sent from the states and was around £240 including import tax!

Comes with various plug adapters for different countries including the UK

Says there are 7 left in stock and delivery is by the 26th.

How much are you looking to spend?

Fx120 and a Canadian autotrickler is a very capable combo aswell

Buy once, cry once
This ^^^^

But they don't come cheap. It just depends on how accurate you want it to be, as well as how reliable.

The RCBS Chargemasters tend to be hit or miss in my experience, even with all the mods.

Had a Chargemaster must be 17 /18 years now, it’s thrown thousands of charges and never missed a beat. I’d buy another without hesitation. I reprogrammed to speed it up and added straws which both helped.
Me too, mine has given excellent service. I did these two mods also, although I used the clear lid of a felt tip pen as I didn't have a straw!

Another Lyman Gen6 fan here. I use it for 3 different powders, its easy, quick(enough) and accurate. Its only annoying flaw is the very loud beep it makes when you press a button or the load is reached. A genuine 1st world problem I know.

I've not had those problems with mine - I follow the instructions about warming up and using the calibration weight
I'm also in a small room so don't have any problems with draughts
I wonder if some of the older mobile phones were the problem ?
Mine is regularly used near phones and wifi without issue
That’s very much how I operate mine.
Door closed no draughts, mobile devices elsewhere in the house. I check calibration every 50 rounds if loading more than that, or every time I leave the room.
I’m about to buy a second “cup” and will ensure they are identical weights, this will increase throughput by reducing turnaround times by approximately 7 seconds

Got the Lyman get 6 from Amazon direct from the States for just over £200 including all postage and taxes. Have to say im pretty pleased with it ands testing back to back with my balance beam scale its pretty consistent.

Another fan of the Lyman gen 6, easy to use and very accurate , I let it warm up and cal it before use it always give me what I want when I check it on balance scales

Hi, looking to get a auto powder dispenser, anyone that owns one have any feedback on what to buy or not to buy?

Bought a second hand Rcbs one of a member on here some time ago, could never get it to work right so binned it. So looking for something reliable, looking to buy new.

Thanks
Avoid PACT at all costs, mine was back to the factory twice before it quit yet again. I have no idea if they are in business now.

Haven't seen the Neil Jones dispenser mentioned. I bought a second hand one without knowing what I was getting - turned out to be one of the best purchases I've ever made. More accurate than any other type I've tried - manual or electronic - and quick to set up and use.

I’m using a Lyman Gen 5 (I think it is just bigger than the Gen6) and it’s been brilliant. It makes the process much faster, and I find the auto-counter for the number of charges dispensed super-helpful.
