BASC Fuel Card Scheme

It's pretty obvious really, BASC like most companies that run a number of vehicles use a fuel card scheme for sake of convenience. The more users that there are in the scheme the better the economy of bulk purchasing. BASC are simply extending the benefits of the scheme to all members and not simply restricting it to company vehicles.

Exactly the above, wots to set up??
UK fuels gets free advertising and publicity, it's open to anyone anyway so obviously wants as many folk using them as possible. Plus a target audience of a high % driving low mpg motors often where ur filing up 100 quid a fill.
If ur driving 3 or 4hrs to ur ground it's better than a kick up the arse.

It's hardly a hard sell or much negotating involved

I honesty think some on here would actually cut of body parts if it gave gem more to moan about basic for.

I also drive to visit my dentist. However, I don't expect him to waste his time on arranging fuel-card schemes: I want him to focus on dentistry.

How’s is saving money a waste of time? It gives you a bit more to spend on your hobby. If it really bothers you and the rest of the complainers, why don’t you start your own organisation and sort out all the issues and problems

It's just a simple scheme to save a few pence. Nothing to do with doctors' fees, lead shot or the encroaching limits on all sorts of field sports.

I agree that thinking of BASC being "the voice of shooting" is a bit of a misnomer really these days. It's more accurately an organisation that you can join and get insurance, advice lines, a magazine and other like benefits. But at present, it represents shooters in the same way politicians represent the electorate. In other words, it'll do what it thinks is right, whether shooters agree or not.

But a scheme to save a bob or two when filling up the old jalopy is neither here nor there.

BASC's core job (and I am a member, a supporter, and often a defender of that organisation) is to protect shooting. Currently, they are failing at that. Distractions such as this scheme are simply opium to the unthinking masses.

I think some, esp on here have there own plentiful supply of 'crack' already,
I doubt adding any opium would make any difference, they'd never be happy.

Granted far better things they should be doing but the tiny amount of time this would take, why would u not.
Just bonkers not to atleast offer it to members

It is simply a pacifier. And in the meantime, Rome burns.

Look at the bigger picture. They are saving you money which you can spend on your shooting activities. It will have taken little time and effort to sort out the fuel card. If it attracts new members, it’s more cash in the account they can then spend on fighting our corner

I'm just a bit annoyed with them today because they have decided not to oppose the government's proposed trophy ban. Probably causing my reaction to fuel cards to be more than it should...

Hmmmmmmm ..... the problem is they don’t though do they .....

It’s no easy task. Look at the bun fights that have happened on here and other shooting forums. If folk aren’t happy with something, vote with your feet or start an organisation yourselves. Show us you can all do better

On the other hand, if we were all on the same page and demanding the level of support we pay for, there would be no need for us to complain.
Then of course there are some members who don't give a hoot..

Really ? I’d have thought with 8 million in the bank “ the voice of shooting “ could speak .... but if you’re happy fair enough

Organisation isn't the problem, It's a positive and effective tool.

The problem is "Organisations", once they set themselves up as "the one true voice" the cause becomes secondary to the easy income and all that comes with it, luxury cars, posh buildings, nice fat pension, and lunching and shoulder rubbing with high ranking officials, all with their own golden goose. after a while those that once were of the "from my cold dead hands" type of resistance to any adverse shooting/hunting,etc,etc, legislation will start to sit back and expect the organisation claiming to be their united voice to fight on their behalf,
who by now are dishing out all sorts of reasons why the huge amounts of revenue should be unspent, despite many believing it to be a "fighting fund"
while coming up with all sorts of incentives to keep the cash coming in, cars, fuel, courses for everybody, and of course liaising with those at the high table who can help this to happen through legislative measures often "welcomed" in with nary a complaint .
people are wising up, they are voting with their feet, whether shooting can survive in the interim is debatable.
and the battle is still on, and the opponents are relentless.
And it doesn't just apply to shooting.
How long do you think extinction rebellion will last once they have an accumulated wealth to keep the top echelons in the lap of luxury and as much lsd, and other mind altering substances they can consume in they're new found "rockstar" lifestyle? and all those gullible saps with their desperate "need" to belong to something start to drift off and lose interest.
much the same is happening with wild justice, people are wising up, packhams millions, are all still intact and growing, while the crowdfunding,, less expenses of course, pays the expensive law firms, I recently met with someone from defra who confirmed what we all suspected from the start.
looking at it in a metaphoric way.
It's all very well claiming you can knock out any one in the pub,,, until somebody steps forward,, and then you have to prove it.
or STFU. and bow your head in shame.
a bit like some of the pm,s we had of late, eh. :-|

I hardly think anyone looking for a shooting organization to join would regard the offer of a fuel-card as a worthwhile incentive ! Maybe in researching which to join, you would consider how well, or not, they are likely to represent you ! A little research in this department as regards BASC would quickly highlight 'issues' the offer of a 'fuel-card' are unlikely to assuage !
Kind Regards,
'Camodog'.

Do u not still get 20% of some new motors??
A 50 quid sub toget 5k of a motor, and cheaper fuel. No brained really if her buying a new pick up and not at registered.
