BASC Fuel Card Scheme

Hi All
Filled out the forms last week, after a lengthy chat with the tele-op. 3p off a litre was stated.
Had my 'welcome' 10 min phone chat today, and they slip in three little gems:-

£50 'admin fee' if your bank payment fails for ANY reason.
3p off per litre DOES NOT apply to any supermarket fuel station 'as they are already heavily discounted prices'
You MUST use standard fuel only, any premium grade fuel attracts a surcharge

So....you only get the 3p off a litre of the more expensive Esso, Texaco etc. which of course, is usually around 3-5p more expensive in the first place!!

Difficult to see much gain here, but I am going to use the cards for a few months as it may be easier to budget with the weekly invoices.
Its fee free, so you don't lose money (unless a payment bounces!) but no real savings to be made, unless you refuse supermarket fuel in your wagon.

Just sign up on fuel prices dot com and set up the fuel stations in your locality or the ones you drive by. Get a nectar card or other loyalty card and pay by credit card and accumulate points. Huge difference in diesel price even at same brand of supermarkets. Also pull up a list of supermarkets close to motorways eg Sainsbury, Taunton which is right on J25 M5. Diesel is probably cheapest within 60 miles.

My local petrol station (ESSO) is currently charging 1.17p a litre for diesel, paid 102.7p using the UK fuel card so good saving for me. Appreciate that you can get a good price at some supermarkets but nearest to me is 25 miles away.

Thats BASC offer you all these offers and when you look into them you are getting NOTHING. That sums BASC up.

I recently had an issue with the BASC vehicle purchase scheme, spoke to the company they recommended. Looked at the new Amorak trucks that they said where available, found one that had diff locks, tow bar and all the other bits I wanted and agreed a price which was around 15% of VW list price. They told me as soon as they received deposit from me it would be ordered. Paid the deposit by bank transfer pretty much straight away. One week later had heard nothing so chased them up and was told that the one I had picked was no longer available and I would need to pick a different one. I was really p*ssed of at this as the original one had everything I wanted. Out of interest I went to a local VW van main dealer and gave them the details of the one that I had ordered through BASC and was told "No problem that one is in the country and still available"! they also agreed to match the BASC agreed price.
I then when back to the BASC dealer to ask whet the hell was going on and was told that they only had access to a limited number of the vehicles that are available which is why they could no longer get that one. Asked for my deposit back and ordered through the VW main dealer. Vehicle was delivered one week later.
Don't know how true it is but I was also told by the BASC dealer that BASC get a payment for every vehicle that is sold through the scheme.
