BASC funds national police training to combat poaching

You could say the same thing as the NHS. The NHS is paid from everyone's taxes, so why should people have to raise money for it via charity to supplement its funding, which has become particularly prevalent during and since COVID. It's because we all know government funded bodies / departments etc. have limited public funding and as such they prioritise where that funding is spent. With the Police, many forces have reduced or even withdrawn rural crime resources, so this is just a case of BASC trying to support our needs and get it back on Police radars and part of their day to day policing activities.

Having reported quite a few poaching incidents and found the way the some (non rural crime) beat officers responded meant those caught could not be prosecuted because of incorrect actions, questioning, evidence gathering or just using the incorrect powers at the time, e.g. seizing the tools of the trade, it's great that BASC can fund specific training to aid detection of crime and more successful outcomes. It also goes a long way diplomatically in nurturing relationships between rural organisations and the police.

There are so many fronts to defend and protect our cause, this is certainly not one I have a problem with.

Thing is people will have very different views on this ( I am certainly one ) . The issues you mention are very much happening , I agree - However BASC are having a bad spell of " mission creep " of late in many areas in my opinion is its not as a comfortable thing . THE VERY LAST THING WE NEED IS CONFLICT OF INTREST , its obvious going to to occur . Just remember why the the Liberal / conservative government and why such alliances always have a looser .
One should look at WAGBI / BASC and why the we now have have the NGO and so many Lage new Orgs and minor "clubs" , insurance / legal cover etc in this field . I have watched this evolve from the get go in my County / Region and some of the origin of the leverage came to be BTW to get to this BASC / POLICE partnership
I have been a BASC member from around my teens and am now in my later 50s Up to most recent ! People can and will make their personal choices and that is how this will play out , i have watched things develop and i have made a choice

You left BASC for your own reasons and that's fair enough and I respect that and I sincerely hope you won't morph into a perpetual 'BASC-basher' on every BASC topic to justify your personal choice!

I have No need or personal or business interest to speed the process of BASC decline the very fact so many Orgs,/ insurers /Clubs etc now exist show the cracks in policy , if i have something to say though I will , This is the stalking Directory a private owned website which is certainly not under the BASC banner .

That does not quite add up given that your focus is to continue to make generic adverse comments about BASC in threads about BASC updates, yet you you say you are not a BASC member. What shooting organisation (s), if any, are you a member of?
