BASC seeks meeting with new Environment Secretary

BASC has requested a meeting with the new Environment Secretary Steve Reed MP to discuss his commitment to support sustainable shooting.

At BASC’s reception at the Labour Party Conference last autumn, held in partnership with the Angling Trust, Mr Reed – who was Shadow Defra Secretary at the time – spoke of his party’s aim to have a “respectful relationship with the countryside”, which “includes…supporting shooting that is sustainable and conducted according to the law”.

I hope sustainable shooting also means sustaining the ability of older (and/or indeed recent) make guns that may not be suitable for steel will be discussed. See my reply to your thread on Party Conference Season.

Labour, I'm trying to arrange a meeting
Good stuff, as per message above, could you speak to him or email him to ask if he would consider attending the BASC and Angling Trust rural reception at the upcoming Labour Party conference?

More information here:

Can you ask them to give the North Northumberland MP David Smith a shake, I've sent the BASC sustainable shooting email twice ,once before they robbed pensioners once after, and yet to receive a reply

Good luck with that one Conor, I'm not sure how in a relatively short meeting that you can make up for Mr Reeds handicap of an urban background ?

That was week 1. There will be years of relationship building ahead with all the new MPs and various ministers. It's what our political team do daily. Key focus currently is prep for the Labour, LibDem and Conservative party conferences and if relevant could you help by asking your MP to consider attending the BASC and Angling Trust rural reception at their conference?
