Might re think the timber on this. Pretty as it is, it's still wood and will hold bacteria! Someone's had a dig at me about it on another forum, a former member of this one in fact. So i might use some more of this Ivory linen micarta instead and use the ironwood on something else:

It'll be much better in the low light i suppose.

Oh for gods sake when will these nambies get real.

May I suggest some nice beech, not as nicely grained but natural and if I recall the the reason it was used for butchers blocks is because it naturally resists bacteria unlike plastics on which it grows well. Those plastic chopping cutting boards have been found to be more harmful than the old wood type .. just have to love it.

I also take the same nambies have been been Mr Woods ears about his unhygenic knives and handles?

The more I hear of this the more I lose interest in the modern society ................................. may god help us all as it seems we sure as hell need it!
