Absolutely. I've been chewing the wife and extended family's ear off about all of this and the idea of putting food on the table was plenty to get her on side and others exctied. We'll see how it actually goes when Bambi enters the kitchen though!

I would strongly suggest that removing the skin before bringing home is a very good idea. Deer hair goes everywhere.

For transport home I bought this plasterers bath: Plasterers Polyethylene Mixing Bath 165LL
With the back seats down it'll fit in most car boots.

Line the bottom with plastic gravel/grass grids and you'll keep the carcass out of any blood, plus it'll help with airflow for cooling.

Plasterer's bath will take a fallow buck ok. Might have to remove head and lower legs if it's a particularly big animal.

I've had fallow in it, with head and legs removed (which I do in the field for all deer, regardless of size).

That’s great. I need one for the boot that will do up to that size. I’m not planning on reds anytime soon.
