berger vld hunting

It's a pity that they don't work as they are one of the most accurate bullets out of my rifle. Why is it these are marketed as hunting when they don't expand most of the time think I will stick with the sst

It's called marketing and trying to find a way to get your £££'s.

Any half decent rifle can, or can be made to cloverleaf with even factory ammo so the accuracy argument at UK stalking distances is just BS

On the other hand it is the bullet many are looking for, little meat damage, accurate, exits every time. :stir:

Edi, these bullets are ***** full stop

I've never had any problems regarding expansion with vld 6.5 140's, .30 210's or .338 300's. They work reassuringly well for me, having never lost an animal and indeed show a good/large wound channel in all three calibers. Maybe I've been lucky, but after 8/9 years of using them on foxes, roe & red almost weekly I've not had an issue. Then again I do tend to favour a longer distance high shoulder shot, so perhaps the added mass of tissue helps the round expand, over say a close lung shot that misses the ribs offering little resistance.

Hi tiff, the shoulder shot is a shot I dont do but thats me, definitely more there to aid expansion, I had foxes doing a 100yds after the shot
