So, she who must be obeyed announced a while ago she had bought a couple of race horses.
When I recovered consciousness she explained, whilst crying with laughter, that it was a share amounting to a hoof trimming or two.

Now she thinks she needs some binos ! Mine are too big and heavy apparently.

So I have narrowed it down to 8/9 x 30/34 she had small hands ( does not hinder her slapping technique 😂) .

Budget end of the market suggestions please.

Opinions on quality of Opticron and Helios please.

Don't discount Hawke, I carry a pair in the car .8x32 small enough to pocket big enough to watch your money dissappear ( sorry wife's hoss 🤣🤣) .
And not too expensive imho

I bought my Mrs a pair of 8 x 30 rspb branded ones (I know) which I think were made by viking. I think they're branded puffin. Cost about £60 and we'll worth a look.

Forgive me, but if she can afford to go out and buy a couple of race horses, I'm sure she could manage to squeeze a few bob out for a fine pair of Swarovski's!

On a more serious note.....I managed with Opticron BGA's for a while and they were excellent - I've donated them to my brother and he's happy with them as well.
Any of the opticron, vortex or swaro range would be good, but it might be easier going to a dealers and letting her try out a few (for size) and if she goes with the Swaro's you could always "borrow" them to check they're ok!

These:

Small, lightweight, and surprisingly good value. I have bought a pair each for both my wife and my mother. Both very pleased.

Is you want small and pocket size go for the double hinge models, bought my partner set of Swarovski CL Pockets in good light it’s hard to tell difference between them an my EL Ranges

Had and used Opticron for a good while. They performed better than expected considering the price. I'd have another pair.

You are not thinking this one through properly, IMHO:
- Buy her the very best binoculars you/she can afford, if not more so.
- She will then understand properly the principal of "buy once, cry once"
- She will thereafter approve all your new optics, however expensive.

I bought my wife a pair of Swarovski 8x32ELs, which she loves. A few years later, when I was complaining about how much better they were than my old Dialyts, she bought me a pair of Swaros.
And she does not even bat an eyelid any more at a Swaro scope on my rifle.
Sow, reap ......

I have a pair of Opticron DBA VHD+ in 10x42. Very sharp image - nearly but not quite as good as my Swaro's. But a lot cheaper. I've handled the 8x42's also. Compact, lightweight, waterproof, 30-year guarantee too.

Went through the same thing myself last week - missus wanted a pair of small binos for walking. Looked through loads at the Shooting Show last week and ended up buying her a pair of Vortex 8x32 Diamondbacks, small and really good clear view at around £180.00

I got some 8x32 Opticron that are about pocket bins sized. Cost approx £200 bloody excellent
Was using them last night and was very surprised at last light capability
