Blaser Bolts difference

I have two Blasers, and the only visible difference between the two bolts is the length. I’m not sure what the difference actually represents — is one an older version and the other a newer one? I haven’t been able to find any information so far.
Visually they look almost identical, except that one has longer side bars. If anyone knows more about this, I’d really appreciate the help.

All mine have the longer version, have just checked and every one is exactly the same never seen a short version and I have two small calibres 22 LR and .22 WMR

I got an additional carrier this summer and its short too, I'm not sure if they had over engineered the original. I decided to use the short one for the 223, given the very short throw.

The short one is the newer version designed so you can remove it with a comb riser. They both function exactly the same.

my understanding is that they realised it works fine without the longer runners so removed them.

odd, I tried to remove bolt having comb riser up, but I couldn't get it out using shorter as well.

How does the shorter version work with long cartridges like the 300wm?

Ok, I have spoken to Blaser, the longer arms bolt is a newer version they release last year. The longer arms are designed to increase the rigidity, longer arms prevent the rollbar or housing from bending when under pressure, ensuring consistent performance and preventing structural issues.
This is what I have been told.

No idea why
probably weight, material cost etc. They are run like a PE firm

that dealer is definitely incorrect

Personally, I prefer the original longer design, because the newer shorter design, tends to lever down further at the back, and applies presser to the top of the metalwork at the back, as it's cycled.

I'm seeing a lot more ware with the short version.

Yup you guys are correct, after reading above recent comments, I did email them back and now they apologised that shorter is the newer version.
Maybe it's Monday and they need a bit more caffeine?

I agree with you on this, that's what prompted me to keep the new one for the shortest throw cartridge.

There is no short, or lang action with the Blaser, I'm pretty sure the bolt gets pulled back the same distance regardless ?

I have just had a look, I was doubting my memory. Between the .223 and 30-06 there is 34mm difference in stroke. The magazine inserts have a metal stop that springs up when you first close the bolt after fitting the trigger unit.

My bad, to be honest, I have a 223, 300wm, and even a 300 NM, and I never even think about the pull
