Blaser R93 - 308 factory ammo

Cheers.

Reason i ask, i've bought 100 Berger VLD Hunting heads and Lapua cases to match, to go work out a good load for the rifle.

My brother has taken it out yesterday with 20 RWS cone points to get it on a zero, and shot a 0.25" c-c group at 100yds. Granted only a few shots, but i was expecting something like inside an inch.

Are Blasers just not inherently fussy?

Hi Scotty

Try Sako 123grn gamehead?

Cheers

I don't think it's the Blaser, the RWS stuff is known to be very high quality. A well known local gun shop owner said its the one manufacturer that was very hard to beat by reloading.
My 243 and 308 both shot really well on RWS.

Ruag / RWS also supply the ammo for the imperial meeting at Bisley, the batches supplied are test shot by a number of very good TR shoots before being selected for the meeting. from previous experience in my TR it shoots very well with very few problems reported.

Cheers,

I only took them since they were the cheapest of the ~150gr ammo that the local boy had on the shelf.

If if I hadn't of bought the heads and cases I'd probably have stopped the search. Still might... Really didn't expect much, very pleasant surprise

Also wasn't desperate to go much lighter than the 150/155gr heads, but if the rifle liked them then certainly wouldn't rule them out.

They very popular?

I'll give you sixty quid for the cases and heads, you'll get a couple of boxes of RWS for that !
Seriously though, PM me if you decide to just go with the RWS.

Sako 123 grn and Hornady 168 grn all sp is all I use both are phenomenally accurate and good for reloading

sako I use for small deer Muntie, Roe and the other for fallow, Sitka and red

funnily enough comparing the two loads the variance at 100 yds is sub 16 mm poi

given the bullet weights that pretty good, no real need to re zero

150gr SST Hornady my favourite but the R8 isn't fussy at all. I've used 123gr Sako (too much mess on Roe) 150gr Sako and 150gr Hornady White Tail, which were cheap and pretty good. Rifle shot them all very well. Never went any heavier than the 150s though.

Yeah,

I think that 150gr seems like a sweet spot for reasonable hunting ranges.
