Hi team
Chasing some Blaser R93 info, firstly I am late to the R93 party having just purchased a (shop demo) Makura Ulrich Takedown R93 chambered in 30-06 which is yet to arrive. I have noticed that there seems to be a few secondhand R93 barrels in the UK so I may have to import one into Australia. I am thinking a 25-06Rem (30-06 bolt face/mag), 6.5x55SE (I would imagine 30-06 bolt face/mag would work) or what appears to be the most available 243Win (30-06 bolt face however will the short 243 case feed from the 30-06 magazine? These three calibers are excellent for general feral game in Oz, possibly 9.3x62 for Sambar, scrub bulls and buffalo, all would compliment the 30-06 really well.
I have shot a few long action bolt guns like the Rem700 chambered in a 308, 6.5x55, 260 and 243 and they work fine without modifying the magazine, is it that easy with the R93 magazine or is the 243 magazine a must for reliable feeding?
Any info is appreciated, safe shooting and good hunting
Cheers
John
