Well that was an interesting afternoon / evening

FIanly got a chance to play with my zero settings on my Blaser R93 Barrels 243, 6.5 55 and 308 and compare results against my Sako 75

102m (according to the range finder) off the bonnet of my car on a tripod.

First off, the 243

SO tried Federal Powershock Federal Premium and my home load 70g Nosla BTs over 41g Vargent.

Best result was unsurprisingly my home loads (Well to me its unsurprising)

Blaser R93

Not bad 9 shots in all batch of 3 then reload running 70G BT over 41g Vargent

Sako 75 III 243 Same load 70g over 41g Vargent six shots wth the same three then reload pattern.

Then the bad news. My spigot on the new 308 barrel wont fit the mod :( The thread is fine but the spigot is too tight to let the thread engage. Damed odd as id expected the spigots to be a standard size for the 15X1 thread :(

Soooooo shot with no mod. A staggering 24 clicks up on the Swaro Z6i 2.5 15 56 and four clicks right

Tried Sako Hammer head 150g, Fiochi 150g, PPU and my 125g Nosler home loads 45g N135. Again homer loads were best but not great

Ignore the shot to the left that was my third to get the elevation correct. Went 4 clicks right to get the poor three shot group. Tried with all my other ammo but the home loads faired the best :( not great. My old T3 did better

SO some load development required but I am not going to bother till the mod situation is sorted out.

Finally it was the turn of the 6.5 55. I had the choice of Norma 120g BTs or Norma 120 grain BTs so that what I went with

From the 243 zero I needed 18 clicks up and 8 left??

I only had 20 rounds and it took a few to sort out a zero so I ended with a 3 shot group. TBH the previous 3 was even better but it was 1" to the right of bull, so id covered them up (see two balck dots) and re shot it but slightly over compensated with one click down and three left.

I shot 15 rounds of the 6.5 55 so only have 5 left and ill save those for hunting. The Normer BTs are damed expensive at 40.00 per box but they are obviously very good.

I was told to run 140g in 6.5 55 but he only had 120s or 165s so I decided on the lighter faster 120 in the hope its very frangible on head shots. Its definitely accurate enough

So in conclusion, the 6.5 55 is pretty awesome. the Sako 75 out shoots the R93 on the 243s and the 308 R93 is below average IMHO on the basis I can put all the 308 rounds I own except PPU through my T3 and keep a better group than the best I could get out of the R93

Big issue now is what to do with the 308 spigot?
