Blaser repeatability

Please forgive me but you spend top side of 3k on a rifle and mounts and you think it's flash because you can take the scope off 3 times and hit the "8in ?"gong in between! !
I've an old 595 with a pick rail I put on on that goes my swaro mounted in some qr rings off ebay and I regularly swap tween that and my drone and still be in target for a quarter of the price
Well guess it's like wanting to drive a flash motor or being happy in a punto as both get you there but one gets more looks

I haven't had much todo with blaser but I've been round one a bit lately and to say I'm impressed is a understatement. To have a rifle you can fit any trigger, bolt, scope rail on and not have issues is brilliant, and for example if you forget your bolt, to be able to walk into any gun shop what stocks blaser and pick up a bolt and bolt face fit in in your rifle and not have to worry about head space. As if I forgot my bolt for my 75 v I'd be hard pushed to find one for a start!!

This is some of the most far fetched Bla**** I've ever read. If you forgot your "bolt" on a Blazer you'd have to apply for a slot on your FAC to buy one, just the same as any other rifle. Then there's the cost of a new one.

The bolt is a pressure bearing component so if you lose it you'll have declare that loss to your FLO and get a slot to buy another one. It's the same as replacement barrels.

but if I buy a blaser r8 243 and have a slot for a say a 300 win mag barrel do I then also have to apply for a slot on my fac for the magnum bolt face?

The bolt is a pressure bearing component, as are the faces that fit the various cartridges. If you lose your bolt you'll need a slot for a new one. If you just want to use new barrels you'll need a slot for the barrel and the bolt face that fits it (assuming you don't already have a face that fits the cartridge you want to fire through the new barrel (e.g. .243, .308' 7-08 etc.)

My general point was that if you forget your bolt you're screwed, regardless of what brand of rifle you have.

I've bought bolt heads without a "slot" for them on my ticket. Different forces apply different rules, but i do agree that they should be obtained with pre-authorisation. If you forget your bolt you are an arse and shouldnt be trusted with firearms (imho)!

I've forgotten my mag before but just single fed and carried on stalking but that's because my trigger group isn't part of my mag...........

blasers are 'ok' rifles but massively over priced especially when you consider that the interchange ability is a result of mass production techniques designed to reduce cost !

Thats ripe coming from someone (me) who twenty years ago drove all the way to Hampshire for a stalk of a lifetime on a medal Roebuck, gets everything ready, pull the rifle out of the slip. No bolt, guide enquiries about the lack of a bolt, my response " it's at home in the separate gun safe". Luckily he had a sense of humour and his rifle to hand, I've got a little better over the years, but he still reminds me even now after all that time as a long term friend just to keep me on my toes.

Once had a hunter suggest to me there was no repeatability in the Blaser. Took off the mod, scope, bolt dismantled, sling off, mag out. Put it all back together; no change.

So out of all that the only thing that would actually make a difference is scope. Ive never know a sling to change POI on a rifle

I have a Savage Armes 17HMR (cost about 450 new? ) which I regularly swap between day and night scopes without any loss of grouping?

The day scope has leaver type QRs on it but the night scope just has thumb screw clamps both fit on the weever rail mounts
No i havent tried it at 400 yards as its not that sort of rifel but I check it at 100m and get sub 20m groups all day
