Blaser Rifles

Keep working long and hard to pay for your blaser kit 👌
Hahaha. At least it will be worth it for a decent bit of kit. 👍
took me 2-21/2 years to save up for each rifle(s) the last two were small cal barrel and bolt head+ mag
Downside and good side you don’t need 2 rifles of the calibre for nv and day anymore 😳 the good side nv and day switch straight over which is superb

Well after like listening to all the advice on this post I took a leap of faith and came home from the stalking show with this today. Thank you for everyone who took the time to reply to me.

Be prepared to be vilified for daring to purchase such a beauty. The SD pitchforks will have your number now. I hope it brings you lots of enjoyment. Just remember to cock it hard and close the bolt fully so you don't get the dreaded Blaser click ;)

The other upside I discovered is that rather than buying multiple scopes you can put an adaptor on the other rifle and re-use the Blaser mounted scope. If you have turrets and a simple zero stop (eg March) then you can just dial in the offset and are good to go.

All barrels will rust overnight. The typical scenario is bringing a rifle in from the cold/wet into a warm house, condensation forms not only outside the barrel but inside. I usually leave it until it’s visibly stopped that process then put a patch through the barrel. All it takes is neglecting to do this once, and potentially you’ve a pitted barrel. No rifle is immune.

Pitting in itself doesn’t mean a bad rifle. My 308 has pitting and it’s perfectly accurate. My 6.5 has throat erosion but is exceptionally accurate.

As to blaser; if you need a take down rifle for using abroad, especially driven game I couldn’t imagine anything better. I’ve seen a few on the range and they shoot well. They are expensive though, and there’s nothing to say they’ll outshoot a factory tikka, so I’d imagine most users are either as above, or sold on the premium pricing strategy.

Well done, enjoy using it! I especially like the trigger, it is telepathic, you might want to dry fire a couple of times to get a feel for it. All the best

yep, I’m afraid so especially when it cost £3k

I’m an old-fashioned dinosaur, who has a blatant, hate, and disregard of blaser

Especially when a month ago, I had somebody stalking into a CWD. I was 15 yards away in the hedge and all I could hear was click – reload – click – reload – click– reload- bang dead cwd!

I was actually bloody surprised that the deer stood there long enough to get shot.

Sorry, but whatever ever, I have fed a sako/tikka/Ruger have all shot 1” or better with very little effort.

You want to spend £3K on a rifle crack on doing what you do.

BUT there are far cheaper, better alternatives out there!

Was it me clicking away ? Imagine how many I could have had with an old ruger

Hi everyone, I’m looking to treat myself to a Blaser R8 Rifle. I have never had one before or used one before so just wondering if they are as good as people say they are?

I work hard and do long hours so like to buy nice kit so have been saving my money for a while but I’m a bit lazy when it comes to cleaning my kit after A long day/night out and normally leave it till the next day but I have heard stories of Blaser barrels rusting inside over night so that put me off a bit is this true and what else should I look out for ?
I personally wouldn’t get a Blaser. Yes they are built well but so over priced. Might work out slightly cheaper and better on space if you have multiple calibres. Pal of mine has a Blaser never cleans it must have had 3-4 thousand rounds through it. Still shoots well.

An R8 is a nice rifle to have while you're saving up for a K95.

I don’t think you’re wrong there to be honest, only sometimes do I think about getting k95 I love em, from memory I think Sussex fallow had a beauty and a another stalker on here fell to the charm but more recently, a serious itch is developing about using but one stalking rifle caliber, which means ditching the 222,243,6.5 and 308 for one and I keep coming back to a .264 it’s got to the stage I can’t look at the blaser catalogue for the fear of seeing they do the 264 then it’s back to reloading as well and I have a slot on my ticket for a CF I’m doomed I’ll tell yar doomed 😵‍💫

Or no will power 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣

Ah but you don't need the catalogue any longer as there are plenty of suppliers building R8 barrels in whatever calibre you desire.
