Hi chaps, thinking of getting a bog deathgrip, £192 im currently using my monfrotto camera tripod with ball head with a chepo clamp off ebay, seems to work ok but wonder if id be best using the deathgrip for the extra £100 as selling my tripod and ball head will probably be worth £100 ish,
But as you can see. It’s a bit flimsy at he the bottom compared to the death grip. IMG_7813.webp
thanks.

Skip the clamp and go ARCA, benefit is that you can still shoot off a bag or 'tac table' vs the HOG/PIG saddles (of which BOG is a knock-off)

i do actually have an arca swiss clamp for my tripod as my camera always had a L bracket on, i dont shoot off a bag or table, always have a bipod on really 👍

Useful in certain circumstances but I’ve always preferred quad sticks for versatility? Each to his own I suppose

never used them, but wouldnt mind trying some, might buy both and test them both out,

they will not be going on no long stalks, just mainly night time rabbits from a few selected spots in a few fields, and the odd fox, i think for my needs thought the deathgrip will be best 👍

I've had my BOG a good few weeks now and was going to do an honest equipment review .

As an aid to an ambush in the daytime it is spot on , nighttime it's not so good and we start to see its failings . To set the tripod level requires truing using the bubble level before clamping your rifle which requires light 🤔. If you walk and stalk your foxes it's a little weighty , can be noisy to deploy and on a cold night will sap the warmth from your hand when carrying .
In my mind it's biggest failing is the lack of ball head , there is a company making adaptors to add one .
On the plus side they are very solid and will clamp your rifle in a solid manner . The legs will also lock at three different angles which allow for standing, sitting and even prone .
This evening , I spent a few hours ratting with Dr. Strangelove at a farm he has permission at and the BOG was a blessing . The R10SE was clamped in , whilst I spotted with the thermal . So much safer and easier than trying to hold a rifle whilst spotting .As for walk and stalk as @Utectok pointed out quadsticks are more adaptable and as for the BOG being a copy , well who gives a f#@$ .
I haven't been disappointed, I intend to buy an adaptor at some point and fit a ball head .
You pays your money ...

No dont get the Bog Deathgrip. I have one and I have got a few issues with it.
You need one with a ball joint. This allows a level platform irrelavent of the terrain the tripod is on.

I would also say, it depends what you are using it for.
Stalking defo quad sticks.
They are just less faff!

now thats something i never thought about, when you mentioned leveling it up i thought to myself, whats it matter, just adjust it on the ball head, but obviously the death grip only tilts back and forth and spins 360, making it actually no use to me whatsoever really, think i may just look for a more sturdy camera tripod and use my ball head and clamp, it may be a cheap one of ebay but clamps well so far,

Take a look at the Bowl Head type Tripods along with an Arca Swiss attachment if you’re setup will allow 👍
Very sturdy platform to be shooting off

Mm "the adjustable Delhi bell"or the " flexi flip flop wobbler" 🤣.
Mines ideal for sit n wait foxing over a bait station or open ride .
And it's not that difficult to set up ,I've drilled holes in the pegs.
Using r clips once set up to retain the angle pins.

A friend uses a Bog tripod to shoot foxes around poultry units, it suits his static style of shooting on these units.
He sometimes comes out with me foxing around our patch, it's a complete pain in the arse if we end up walking & stalking, I have to carry the tripod and he carries his rifle complete with GRS laminate stock, it's ok if we chug around in the Gator... his setup looks like the dogs danglies when it's set up in his garden... but I wouldn't swap it for my Bushwear quad sticks and T3x lite.

Yes I had a Pig saddle a while back. Good in static positions less so when mobile, just a lot of faff carrying and setting up if truly mobile.

I now use 5 leg adjustable sticks. Much better mobile, absolutely rock solid up high which is better than the tripod really and faster to deploy/easier to carry. Sitting/kneeling it is very good but so is the tripod. Sticks have less scope to move side to side probably but with the tripod you have to move your position whereas with the sticks there is a bit of leeway then a bit of a hump round with the sticks/rifle. Certainly no loss of accuracy with sticks.

Pays your money but if walking as well as static then good adjustable 5 leg sticks are a better bet IMO. Not as tacticool though eh ...

That is a very tidy solution , either pig saddle or arca rail , probably work out cheaper in the long run .

The Death grip is not "the" definitive tripod , it's an easy buy , add an adaptor and ball head and your approaching the price of a base model Rekon .

I'm not trying to put anyone off buying the BOG , I've seen some online reviews and they're not all completely honest .
