Bolt and Ammo storage

Is it within the rules/guidance/law to store bolts with ammo in a completely separate safe ? Assuming said safe is of sufficient quality.

The rifle has a perfectly good place to store the bolt.
Only store it out of the rifle if there is a space issue, saves it being forgotten - how do I know...?:worried:
My FEO asked me to store bolts away from rifles. I know its not the law but in terms of security makes sense. Not forgot yet ! Forgot plenty of other bits of kit though 😉.
Uncanny knack of forgetting a head torch 😖.

I store my rifle bolts and rifle ammo in a separate safe that sits on top of my rifle cabinet. My FEO likes the concept of keeping the bolts and ammo separate from the rifle. Makes sense to me. Also when travelling in the car to and from an outing I keep the ammo and bolt on my person at all times, again seems to make sense.

I store rifles and their ancillary equipment separately. Each calibre has its own shelf in a separate cabinet, and the bolt, mod, magazine and ammunition reside in their own box on that shelf. All I have to do is take the rifle, and the box that goes with that caliber, and nothing is forgotten !

The only REQUIREMENT is that your ammo and guns are stored securely and separately. For many that means a lockable compartment in the same cabinet for ammo. But keeping bolts apart from rifles if you've got the capacity is not bad. Neither is keeping ammo in an entirely separate cabinet/safe.

Precisely, perhaps if plod were diligent about their duties and charged burglars with firearms and ammunition thefts rather than the lesser offence of handling stolen goods then we could all feel safer... how do I know...?

Yes same here, all the bolts, ammo and guns are kept in seperate cabinets, the FEO likes the idea and its good to keep them happy.
Like others you have to make sure you have the correct bolt for the rifle your talking, normally i forget the correct ammo but i think we've all done something along them lines in the past.
