The nights are drawing in quick now, and I would like some interesting reading. Can anyone recommend a good book on training a dog for deer work. Cheers

John Jeanenny-tracking dogs for finding wounded deer.
William.G.Syrotuck-scent and the scenting dog.
Guy Wallace-the versatile gundog.Guy has a few books,each of them has the same passages out of the dogs for deer part.
If you can read/speak German,list is endless,those above are the best in English IMO.

Just found this very informative. Looks like the hound (AKA ‘Fenton’) is about to enrol in a training programme as soon as I can track down one of these books.

I've got a copy of the Jeanenny book which I'd sell. Not sure how much for though, seemed to be worth a lot more than I thought last time I looked.
