Posted above this on my phone!

A mate had one, a Dutch bred dog, took him down under and he was a wonderful hound! Used to bring me his ear in his mouth!

Yeah,

Mine is almost 1yr old. I got him from a guy in Northumberland who uses them for falconry. He actually runs a falconry centre.

My previous dogs have been Chesapeakes and a GSP, so my observations are based on these. He's incredibly calm and very rarely gets phased. Completely the opposite of the highly strung GSP. He's intelligent but much softer in nature than any chesapeake. He's slower working than a GSP but his drive remains high.

His ability to scent is about the same as a GSP. He'll readily follow an individual deer trail and I can now tell whether he's indicating an individual /small number of deer or a larger number. I recently ****ed him off by fumbling around like an idiot, completely missing the group of reds that he was pointing out, about 600-800 yds upwind on the hill.

You can't be harsh with them. A raised voice is sufficient to make them stop and back off. They're also very close. Don't get one unless you're prepared for it to be with you constantly. You can forget taking a **** alone.

Aside from their working abilities, they also make fantastic family dogs, very gentle, loyal and calm natured & great with kids.
