Bresser night vision from lidl

You need to see the Bresser next to a Gen 3 £2k model...Then you will see why....Seriously I have played about with all kinds of different GEN1 and digital units and had a lot of fun with them and used them successfully (not out to 300 yards I hasten to add!!!) but once you have looked through a real one.....You can never go back..

So very true i went back to Gen1 some years ago, lasted about ten mins before i needed Gen3 again. Digi and tubed nv are worlds apart.

people with £2k to spend on disposable items don't tend to shop at Lidl!

thats like comparing a nissan with a ferrari and saying "oh , you will never go back"

you have to get there in the first place!
and a £99 Lidl NV is a better place to start than some of the sub Gen1 image intensifiers on the market

Bought one late wednesday evening, the guy in the store said they were due out Thursday but did me a favour, went home read the book, went out and within 10 mins of calling spotted a charlie at about 150m, squeaked him off the skyline and up to heaven he went.

TIP. Use your non shooting eye for the scope.

Its a fair comment........Im almost tempted to go and get one to see how good they are for £99 Sounds like a lot of people happy with them. Then I can sell my Gen 3 gear and put the cash towards my Ferrari LOL...

i was out last night.
only saw one fox but he is no longer around to corroborate the view through the Bresser

granted the first place I was at is an urban golf course and quite bright but despite the fact that the course is in darkness to the naked eye I could clearly see the tee box on the opposite side of the course at around 700yds
The onboard IT stops working and giving eye shine on rabbits out past 200yds but will still get a reflection off a fox

I have an N800 laser which I only just got.
It is bright but actually a little too bright for me. I like seeing the natural image which is almost light a bright moonlights.
the reflections and shadows cast by the laser were most off putting especially as vertical surfaces come back much brighter than horizontal ones.

the on board is low enough to light up surrounding areas and even in pitch black will through enough to see for several hundred yards

trick is not to turn it up past a a 180 turn of the knob otherwise snow blindness sets in

Try taking the ocular rubber bit off and fitting a coloured filter ... makes a world of difference.

oo interesting! what lens

I have gutted one and am about to "rehouse" it.

the front and rear "lenses" have little or nothing between them, purely packaging. what goes in the front comes out the occular purely via cable

I reckon i can package it down to be about 2.75-3" long.

I am using a Yukon 32mm x1 lens which is OK but not wide enough or low enough mag to really be of value as an add on

Whatever colour you prefer, I get on well with green, YMMV.

Even with a 1x lens on, you're looking at 1.7x mag I believe.

its easy
unscrew both lenses
pop the main switch off with a flat blade

4 screws on the base in holes
4 screws round the ocular ring
the forward housing has a "ring" which is glued in place (runs round the forward edge and the on board IR.
you can crack the glue between ring and housing with a small penknife blade wedged in between.

the housing wont open all the way as the occular chip has two further screws holding it in place.
once those are out the lenses and board may still be spot glued to the housing but they pop off with minimal effort.

then it all just pops out.

in true Haynes Manual style: refit is reversal of removal!
