Well folks, with the above, a cable tie with a rear NEGC peep got me a just over inch group at 50 yds. So gets me a working height for a ramp… so, plotting restarts

I'm sure your LGS or a rifle 'chopper' will have some front sight ramps to spare.
Get a selection and break out the solder!

There is something about the purity of iron/open sights I've always been attracted to.
I've put irons on a few guns in my time because,
Often I feel that, we rely on our optics so much these days and forget and maybe, feel intimidated by irons, its not that hard to regain those open sight skills, it can even be a big surprise. Even me, with my Eddie the Eagle lenses and doss eye, can use open sights ok-ish on most guns.
They have a few advantage's over scopes.
They are harder to knock off zero
They make the gun feel much lighter, and smaller, there's something mildly liberating about carrying a rifle in a skinny shotgun slip.
Often they come free with a gun, sadly not so much these days
They show off the lines of a pretty rifle more,
Also, these a sense of pride at being able to use your marksmanship skills with open sights, especially if they came free with the gun!
Our ancestor's did it fairly successfully and there is a connection with that I feel we sometimes forget
Without being a show off my record on the running boar at the BSRC was 91 with iron sights and 98 with a scope. after that a few guys started removing their scopes from their .22's with open sights. don't get me wrong scopes also have some major advantage's over irons especially for people like myself with bad eyesight and its is undeniably harder using irons,
Sometimes a change is a good as a rest and it can be educational to try out open sights on rifle you have never shot without glass, its quite surprising how quickly those skills come back. But it can blow your mind and make you question why you spend all that money on something you can live without. Of course it all depends on the kind and type of shooting you wish to peruse,
I'm tempted to see I can source a front target style sight for my Cz455 and put a pretty stock on it, but it seems very hard to find spare wooden stocks for Cz455s these days, which is a good thing for my pocket!

Yes Colonel Rimfire, there's a lot to be said for the simplicity of compact 'iron' sights and, despite nudging 70, I can still use them reasonably well. One of the arguments I make in my book, however, is that if makers had continued with the Bausch & Lomb concept, instead of the modern rubbish, scopes could be even more reliable. My reasoning is mainly based around the tendency of express sights to shoot high when you're under pressure but also the susceptibility of beads to getting knocked, out there on the end of your barrel. With the B&L type of mounts you could seriously bump the scope but expect it to spring back into place.

Just as an FYI, the aperture I have in mine seems bigger than pictured above, maybe a bit over 3mm diameter.
The hole when the insert is removed is a bit over 5mm but not totally round (behind the threaded portion are 2 verticals inside the sight) which make the hole not quite round which I understand isn't ideal
(hopefully you can see in the below).

Fitting a sight to a threaded sleeve for the muzzle is straightforward and works.
Alternatively on a barrel band also straightforward and less invasive than tapping the barrel
I happen to have two Sako aperture sights
They are works of art
Very simple

McLaughlin makes a click adjustable cocking piece sight:
But don't think it is as advanced as the Fraser's (Though I'd probably zero at 200yds for MPBR as I do with most of my stalking rifles and forget it)

Hi folks, I'm building a bit of a Do it all .22 rimfire Needs to do the following things. 1) Mimic some of my bigger rifles in terms of weight and feel 2) Shoot .22 lr at long range (200 and 300 yds) so needs a 20" barrel* 3) Be useable for running boar targets (so mount and swing cleanly)...

Apparently , you can fit a NECG CZ 527 receiver sight , but does require some fitting .
