Hi as the title ,has anybody had issues with the browning xbolt dura stocks going sticky ,my xbolt 223 stainless stalker is horrible to hold now ,you can literally scrape the coating off with your finger nail .I no that in the USA you can send them back to browning ,but don't no if that applies in the uk .if not will have to get another stock ,or try and paint this one up .thanks

I’ve had the same problem with a Sako 85 synthetic stock, where the rubber coating went sticky making the stock unusable. The only viable solution that I found was to completely strip the rubber coating off the stock with cellulose thinners, before either getting it hydro dipped in a colour and pattern of your choice or painted. I chose to get mine hydro dipped and was very pleased with the results. If you look through my posts/threads on my profile, you will see that I have described the process in detail.

Nov 18 2021 was one of my posts.

I hope this helps.

I have an x bolt with the same problem.
Spoke to my RFD who supplied it 10 yrs ago. Browning need the bare stock and will decide if their problem they will replace it but i need to pay half. £190.00 plus postage both ways.
My rfd has 3 in store waiting for Brownings reply. His advice was sprinkle talcolm powder on it.

thanks guys ,spent most of today stripping it off with thinners ,have ordered 3 camo spray paints ,going to do a paint job on it

Its a known problem where they coat the plastic stocks with a soft touch finish which doesn’t stand up to products used for cleaning and protecting the metalwork.

so if you did not clean it ,would not be a problem .lol

LOL i think you mat have other problems
It eventually comes off anyway, I had a 2 year old Sako 85 Finnlight and the finish could be pealed off with a fingernail and other than a wipe the stock received no attention
