Can someone recommend me a anti-theft tracker for my quad?

Hi All,
Loads of farms near me have been done, its only a matter of time before they hit me, even though my quad is ancient. I spoke to a local policewoman, she says farm theft takes up 50% of their time at the moment.

I am looking for a tracker that can send a location to my phone. I am fine to DIY instal it to the wiring loom.

I have been recommended the TS10 from tracker shop, it all looks fine but the £100 a year subscription seems a bit steep. I wouldn't mind paying more upfront for a lower subscription. It doesn't need to be 'insurance approved.'

Any recommendations welcomed.
Thanks,

I use ScorpionTrack. Paid subscription, but 24/7 monitoring, nationwide police notification, journey tracking, and real-time tamper warning to your phone via text and phone call. Think it was around the £180 mark, plus £100 (ish) subscription including free fitting

Sizzapp sounds good. I have a biketrac and at 99 quid a year subs it only takes 30 months to get my money back! Less if I sell it on.

I have to say that biketrac has been good though. warnings via text and phone call for movement (dogs in car) and low battery (new battery was needed)

One more question, when installing the tracker, did you just wire it straight to the battery (like most of the instructions specify) or did you hide the connections in the wiring loom after finding a permanent red live wire? Having worked on my quad I know a few places that are really hard to access without taking off lots of plastic panels and multiple rusty bolts!

I actually have no idea where mine is, or how gtwap installed, as the company installers did mine. I know it's buried deer in the internals somewhere though, and there's no obvious signs it's there

Wired to the battery and ran the cable with the box, hidden under the front plastics near the seat. It will also gives you an alarm if someone disconnects the device from the battery, also , even if you bump into it detects movement of the quad. Obviously you can switch off all this items when in use. Very simple to connect up and the app works very well.

Buried deep into a permanent live ;)

OK, cool, I think that is the best plan too. So I can bury it and forget about it. I'm surprised the instructions don't suggest this, maybe they are worried about the fallout if you damage the wiring?

I know it’s too late as you’ve bought something, however if you want something that shows the location use something cheap like an Apple Air Tag (or android equivalent if you don’t have iPhone) then use a CanTrak tracker for your quad should it be stolen.

Here’s my reasoning, Thieves can use a detector from Amazon / EBay which cost £70 and shows them the location of the tracker, because a tracker constantly emits a signal.

So the quad is stolen, taken to a nearby location, searched by the device, tracker located and ripped out before they take the quad for good.

However, CanTrak only emits a signal for 10 seconds a day to keep connected to the network, so thieves scan the quad and it’s all clear for trackers, however, you phone CanTrack and advise the quad is stolen, they activate the tracker full time and your quad location is pinned.

Thanks. I think if I had a new quad I would have both types installed. I guess the downside of those smaller ones is battery life. I think if I had a new quad I'd buy both and a massive retractable bollard.

I have a alltrack on my Polaris. You have to pay a subscription fee but it’s worth it for peace of mind. They phone me if someone pushes it moves, even if you sit in it. So worth it in my opinion
