Carbon on crown?

Hi,
Wondered if anyone else has this?
Since changing to an Ase Utra SL5i moderator (Barrel end fitting) I’ve noticed I get a build up of hard carbon on the muzzle crown. This is thick enough to chip off at times.
I don’t remember having this problem (And it is a problem keep having to work on the crown) when I used over barrel moderators.
Does anyone else suffer from this?
Ps. The barrel and moderator threads get pretty grubby too.

Yup. I get the same on my Winchester using the same mod. Maybe there is a bit of a gap there between the end of the barrel and the start of the baffles that allows it to build up.

Yes. But it's no problem if you're using a carbon remover in your cleaning regime. Just use a couple of the carbon remover soaked patches you push through the barrel on the crown and threads, soak and rub, and it comes clean.

Yes exactly the same with Sako S20 and SL5I, I just give a wee scrub when cleaning, I don't get it to the same degree with wildcat or my Lawrence precision mods on different rifles.

I get it with a DPT and Wildcat EVO but i put 3 dry patches through the barrel every time i shoot and use the last one to wipe the crown so it never builds up.

Yes if iv been on a range day I just soak in carbon cleaner and remove with one of the green plastic pan cleaners.

I used to get it with my jet z moderator on my 308. I also got a lot of carbon in the barrel near the muzzle.
Never got it with over barrel mods.

Yes it’s a pain but doesn’t affect anything. Sometimes if the build up is significant I’ll scape it off with a small block of aluminium (keeping away from the crown) and then wipe with solvent.

Normal. I have to clean the crown on my .204 every time it's shot. If multiple rounds it needs a PB brush to remove it. N140 and H335.

I get it with every mod I've ever used. I simply remove it with a cotton bud soaked in Boretech Eliminator (I now use a SL7i on my .243/.308 and a SL5i on the .223).
