Just wondering if anyone has one of these as a working deer dog and any opinions of the breed for that role.

i have friends in Poland that work them on all sorts including boar and deer. good workers, but too hairy for me.

I don’t think they are significantly different from GWPs and you get more choice of litters and probably pay less for a GWP…

I’ve bumped into one or two over the years in the UK and have always embarrassed myself by mistaking them for GWPs.

There is a channel of YouTube about them working in NZ, certainly look like they do the business,

They are part of the make up of the Slovakian RHP (my avatar) along with Weimaraner and GWP.
Mine definitely had more of the Cesky and GWP in him.....mad as a box of frogs and hunt 'til he'd drop ! Been nearly a year since I lost him and still miss him...once in a lifetime dog.
You would probably find a Slovak easier in the UK but they're not that easy to find either.
Best of luck.
Regards, Rob.

I have had 2 SRHP's,grand beast's lost the first bitch young (20months) to lymph cancer, the second was one of the best dogs i have had practically self trained and just wanted to please me by doing what ever i asked of her ,sadly went young at 10 y to a bowel torsion,
Would have had another (4 y ago)could not find a litter and had a Brittany as a second dog .IMG_20180727_114218.webp

Hunting Dogs Europe on here has connections with kennels in Slovakia and can always get a SRHP if anyone is interested.
He was absolutely mustard but a handful ! Couldn't bring myself to get another Slovak...got a WHV bitch instead, lovely gentle dog and a hard worker but not the same...

Thanks folks. SRHP looks a good type.

I am interested in the differences between GWPs and the Cesky Fousek in terms of how head strong they are in comparison. I know the GWPs have a reputation/are very head strong. Is this also the case with the CF?

When I got my Slovak, I looked long and hard at the HPR breeds for something similar to a 'GWP lite' and the Slovak seemed to fit the bill.
Mine was as headstrong and driven and hard hunting as any dog you'd meet ! The bitches in his litter were much more biddable and easy going...the point i'm trying to make is that there are no guarantees and the individual dog is more important than the breed.
My current WHV comes from excellent hunting stock and is a lovely biddable gentle dog.....chalk and cheese to my Slovak but not all Slovaks.
Hope you find what you're looking for...if you decide on a Cesky or a Slovak, definitely get in touch with Hunting Dogs Europe I'm sure he'd be able to find you a dog/bitch.
ps I have no connection to the above other than I got my WHV from him.
