CFE 223 and 222.

Thanks to all for info on loads for. 204 with CFE 223.
I have some good pointers to go one so will try and sort a load for 32 vmax and 35 Bergers. I have a good stock of both.

CFE223 was the original Hornady 204 Ruger powder in its factory loads. The anti copper fouling ingredient was a vital factor to avoid the .17 Remington issues of a generation before - claims of excessive barrel copper fouling in US gun magazines ruining the cartridge's reputation and sales. It also met Hornady's MV requirements to allow the claim of fastest production cartridge on sale. So, it's unsurprising your handloads match factory performance.

On a wider note, CFE is a 'Marmite' powder - users seem to find it either excellent or useless. It sees little, more likely nil, use in precision loads for the 223, 308 and suchlike, but that applies to most ball-type powders before the 'Accuflat' (Winchester StaBALL) range, and we still have to see if the StaBALLs live up to the claims.
Thanks Laurie. If I have my way it will be a compressed load. Hate looseo spherical loads.

So hogdens say max of 26.2 with a 50gn bullet so I did three at 25.5 and three at 26.
26 looks promising, considering the cross wind and the fact that like an eejit I pulled the first shot! Thankfully it left a tiny mark on the paper.
I know exactly how much I pulled it and I believe it should be in with the other two.
So I will test again.

No pressure sign at all, may go a pinch more!
