CFMoto 450

Anyone have any direct experience with these quads? High spec' for the money, and a 2-year guarantee. I've read mixed reviews on them, myself. Under £6k for a brand new 450 seems pretty decent, but if they're not up to it I'm happy to go for a used branded quad. Needing a second quad around the place now that the old KLF is beginning to wobble 🤔

Highland Leisure sport in Invergordon sell a lot of them. Have a look at their website / socials.
I have no direct experience of CF Moto but like most things in life that cost around half the price of similar products they do so for a reason.
I think you would struggle to give a second hand one off where as a known brand bike will only depreciate so far and then retain its value.

I have a 450 Kove from brand new which is the same engine with I think, a different head.
145kgs
50+hp
Proper suspension.

Goes really well and apparently, Jongschen is the engine manufacturer who is a major engine supplier worldwide. Forget the stereotype "Chinese rubbish" with regard to the engine.

I can't speak about the rest of the quad but Cf moto seems to be an up and coming brand, aren't they doing motogp or wsb now?

If buying to keep longer term, I'd do it!

If buying for a stopgap to trade-in in a few years time, then I'd buy Japanese.

I know of farmers using them and they get on fine with them. 2 yr warranty and back it goes for a new one , rinse and repeat

I just spoke to a shepherdess last week about them who says they are piles of shite , but she was a kiwi , so everything was a pile of shite .
I like the look of them and the value is certainly there . Residuals aren’t bad either

I know a guy with the massive touring version. He really adores the thing

I demo'd one and found it to be a nimble and useful quad, just before I left the estate we replaced the Honda with with one.... and that's after having a honda on demo again and testing polaris...
Residual resale isn't the best compared to Honda... but the initial cost saving far outweighs it and tbh.

Local farmer has a CFMoto, likes it, hasn't broken so far, although it doesn't get hard use like a sheep farm (he's cattle only).

Cheers fellas. I may well have a test ride and a chat with a dealer then. The KLF is a good enough wee bike, but it's a bit long in the tooth and I find a quad so invaluable around here (topping, harrowing, spraying, dragging the paddock sweeper, and a dozen other jobs) that it'd probably make my life a lot easier to have something I can rely on completely. Thanks all

I did try to buy one but in the end the dealer would not sell me one as he knows me well and knows I'm hard on quads the first ones he had put on farms were coming back in with cracked clutch plates and quadzilla would not stand warranty due to stupid issues with paperwork, this was a couple of years ago so things may have changed now hope that helps.

Zongshen is the engine manufacturer and not as I previously spelt it.

They have a pretty solid reputation, from what I've been reading. Seen a few reviews now, and the positives seem to outweigh the negatives. Just put a deposit down on one, so I'll report back in due course 👍

My motor is now on about 1350 miles.
Only problem so far was a very very small oil leak, think spray of about a teaspoon over a days use. I stripped the stator cover off, after checking with the supplier for any warranty issue, as I thought it was that gasket.
Very impressive inside with various quality engineering touches, nothing looked cheap and nasty.

Everything good.

Returned under warranty to the supplier.

It turned out it was a copper washer on the head that is totally hidden from view behind the left radiator.

The important thing was the supplier was 110% convinced throughout that it wouldn't be a gasket as they are a composite construction. He was absolutely 110% convinced and he said, " these engines simply don't leak oil!"

All now good, so I have plenty of faith in the motor.

That's reassuring, thanks. I've gone for the 'Basic' model. I don't need alloy wheels, and I'm yet to be convinced that a farm quad needs electric powered steering so again that's something I don't need nor want. The rest of the features look pretty impressive though. LED lights, road-legal, all-round hydraulic discs, etc. Be a fair step up from the old KLF

How much extra would the powered steering have added?
If not too much, I'd have gone for it if I was you.
You may be able to use the unpowered steering without undue pain and fatigue now, but in a few years time - well within the lifespan of the quad - it might be a different story.
You and I are pretty much the same age. A few years ago, I'd have dismissed the idea of powered steering on a quad as being totally unnecessary, just as you have.
Now I cannot physically steer a quad without power assistance 😞

Another grand on top. If it'd been even half that I'd have considered it, but an additional £1000 (plus VAT) was just way too much

I know quite a few farmers who use them, kiwi farmers maintain nothing, so five yrs out of them, living in cow shxt then put into the scrap bin. When you consider they are half the price of a Honda, really good value, I think they own KTM, or are major partners

I've had one for a couple of years now.
A reasonably good solid quad.
power steering is excellent.
A usefull extending towhitch which I have welded a deer hoist to.
Dont get muddled up with their warranty conditions.
just service it yourself.

That's a really nice feature. My KLF has a rear basket fitted to it, which means I need to remove it each time I hook up a trailer, topper, muck sweeper, and what-have-you. It's a two minute job to remove it, but it's a complete pita! The alternative is guddling about bent double trying to hook on though, and that gets old very quickly. Especially on wet or snowy ground. Those 'two minute' jobs soon add up to a lost hour or two over a day, and something so simple as an extended hitch shows that someone put some thought into the design

A couple of points reading your @Quixote and others posts above.

Led headlights - on the Kove they are really good, even in daylight you see them lighting signs up. If the CF Moto are similar then they'll be ideal for the job.

Warranty and servicing - Kove don't specify a brand of oil, just a spec. Self servicing is perfectly acceptable and the only stipulation of the importer is that you send one continuous short WhatsApp video of the following-
Drained old oil, new oil container showing grade, old oil strainer, old oil filter, new oil filter, new cleaned air filter fitted.

Have a check on what the stipulations are for CF Moto, but if similar, they are a far cry from main brands robbery?

Another point just looking at your link @Quixote

CST tyres.

The Kove runs CST tyres and I find them very good. I have since buying my bike bought x2 other sets ( front and rear) new takeoffs for spares.
A mate has a KTM 690 adventurer and needed new tyres, so I said he could have a pair at cost.
He found out the parent company, or some sort of link, is actually Maxxis tyres just under a different name.

Road mileage for a knobby isn't going to be great but then that's the trade off and to be expected. Grip doesn't seem an issue.

That's pretty reassuring too, thanks. Gtd been looking at some more reviews and nobody tit actually owns one seems to have a bad word to say about them. And to be honest, I could spend the same money on an older Honda with a 1000 hours and an unknown history. For me, it's a no-brainer, really 👍
