Charity Hunt

Hi folks!

Does any of you have any experience of arranging a charity hunting event? Or have you taken part in one and can give advise on how to set one up?

With charity hunting event I mean a more or less ordinary hunt (for deer in this case) to which people that appears in publicity and are known to be hunters are invited. The people invited pays an unreasonable amount of money to participate in the hunt. The money then goes in full to a picked charity.

Questions I think about is:
What would be best way to approach this people that are going to be invited?
How much more is it ok to ask for in a charity hunt compared to a equivalent commercial hunt (I guess it depends on many things, but what is the customary)?
Should there be any entertaining program to the dinner that follows the hunt?

We are totally new to this kind of events in Finland and I´ am grateful for every hint I can get.

Definitely agree with McKenzie on this one....
If you have a specific charity that you are raising money for, an auction will allow potential bidders to decide whether or not they wish to contribute. You can set a "guide price" and let the bidders take it from there. The more (and varied) lots you can offer will mean different people will be tempted by the whole auction. I don't know what the legal restrictions or guidelines are in Finland, but I assume there won't be too many restrictions.
The GWCT, Wild Trout Trust and BDS all run successful auctions (along with many other groups!), so their websites may be of help.

An auction would probably be the best way to raise money if I had one or two places to offer on an attractive hunt. In this case however I thought about arranging a hunt only for this purpose for maybe 12-15 people. I doubt that people, who are rich and plenty of opportunities to hunt wherever they want to, would bid for a chance to take part in a hunt, but maybe I have to reconsider it.
