Gents, I have posted the below with the kind approval of Malc, JayB and CSL and am looking for anyone with companies/stalking outfits that could donate anything for a raffle and/or auction to help raise money for a couple of military charities please. The raffle will be for members of my shoot (mostly serving/ex serving personnel) I won’t be selling tickets elsewhere as that defeats the purpose of the event.
CRANWELL AERODROME SHOOT CHARITY RAFFLE – 21 MARCH 2020
The Aerodrome Shoot was formed at Royal Air Force College Cranwell in 1920 and has continuously provided sport to serving and retired military officers and airmen from Lincolnshire and the surrounds for the last 100 years, including the war years and those involved in the Battle Of Britain!
It is a great honour for me to be leading the shoot at this significant milestone, and whilst it is very hard to find out for definite, we believe we are the oldest continuous military Shoot in the UK. We have twice appeared in Shooting Times, in January 2012 and recently on 12th February. Annually we hold a Shoot Dinner in a local pub and as a one off this year to celebrate our centenary; we plan to hold a raffle or auction in order to raise some money for our 2 local branches of the SSAFA (Soldiers, Sailors, Airmen and Families Association) the Royal Air Forces Association – our 50+ Guns, beaters and supporters will be asked to dig deep and buy tickets or bid in an auction in the hope of raising at least £500 to add to the several hundred pounds we raise in our sweepstake each season.
Local SSAFA and RAFA volunteers do excellent work supporting local Service personnel and their families in the bases around Lincolnshire and are reliant on raising their own money outwith national campaigns and their funds are used locally for many initiativesincluding grants for emergency situations personnel may find themselves in as well as supporting local military veterans.
I plan to take a photo of all those who attend with any raffle prizes and to send it to the shooting press and I hope you will join me in this endeavour to raise some money...
