Cheap 4x4

Mitsubishi pajero swb?.?

+1 got one myself, 22 years old 220000 miles on the clock and still goes like a bomb. The past 3 mots all it has needed is a fog light bulb. Never had any problems either apart from a new alternator in the 7 years ive had. Get the correct tyres and it will go where ever you want. The fuel bill isnt bad either.

I had a Kangoo 4x4 and now have one of the most recent Terrano's. The Nissan is more comfortable on longer roads. Much less noise also.
The Kangoo was a dream. Much better on very muddy woodland tracks than the terrano. MUCH better on snowy roads. For short distances a 4x4 Kangoo anytime. If you have to travel from Kent to the Scottish Highlands on a regular basis, the Kangoo is just to noisy and uncomfortable.

puggy 306 1.9td, because you can... and at 40+ miles to the gallon (230,000 miles later) LIKE A BOSS

ive had quite a few 4x4's all cheapish and used offroad by me
suzuki samuria 1.3 lwb excellent offroad but basic not good on fuel
2 x diahatsu F20's excellent engines ok offroad but rot like hell
2 x mitsubushi l200's good onroad ok on juice rubbish offroad
toyota surf 2.4td outstnding excellent offroad very refined and very robust but a bit slow
td5 discovery BAG OF SH*TE useless offroad due to traction control being an erse and turbos like to go boom or at least mine did
navarra D21 very good offroad( engine hasn't blown yet and its got 90k on it!) and you can get these for 2K
but personally go for a surf when my navarra goes its another surf for me the only reason i have the navarra and not a surf is it was the right price !
these are my own opinions and findings which i hope may help you in your choice

Cheers gents.....................I will take on board all that has been said. ....I reckon I need to save a bit more cash as I am sure I need more than I thought. I suppose I can buy a bag of spanner cheap and I know you can get a superb bargian cheap, .....but I tenf to be sooo unlucky with cars so best I save my cash. I must admit I was cursing the world this eve, dragging two Roe through 2 miles of what can only be described as the being like a WW1 battlefield .....not good.

I got an older 1.6 Vitara recently which had 50k on the clock for £800! Will go places most 4 x 4's won't, cheap on fuel and insurance. VERY reliable!
