Cheap electric mincer review.

I don't know if this is going to be of use to anyone but I bought an Electric Mincer from E-Bay for just £25.99 last week. I know that you get what you pay for but I have to say that I am very very impressed with this one. I have used it twice so far, once to mince a couple of pounds of venison and make some venison sausages and today to mince a couple of pounds of lamb (Mainly Boned Breast Of Lamb) to make some Minty Lamb Burgers. I will be using it again to make about 4 pounds of Lamb and Mint Sausages to give out to a few of the elderly who live near me that are struggling a little financially!
I made this video today so people like me who are only wanting a mincer for home use rather than commercial use can see it in action and judge for themselves. As for me I really am very impressed with it!

I suspect this is a generic design widely sold.

I had one the plastic gears broke.

I would be interested to know what advantage freezing the unit has?

Good review Frenchie.
Just to jump on here in case it’s helpful, I had one like this and it certainly earned its money but eventually I needed to replace it.
Hadn’t thought of a kenwood chef attachment but I found one (already having said kenwood) for not a lot of cash.
It’s really very good quicker than the one it replaced, benefits from the all metal gears of the KC of course.
Word of warning - apparently - the kitchen aids (very expensive) don’t have the same powerful gutsy motors and I’ve heard of them burning out. Kenwoods are much stronger from what I hear and read.
There you go!

That surprises me. I guess Kitchenaid just have a good marketing team as you would think they are the best available. Especially for the price of them.

hi.
good review, yours is the same generic one as mine ( Aldi middle isle special).
a couple of tips, when you are trying to attach the mincer head leave the large front nut loose,it makes lining up the drive shaft easier.
also I cube my meat a bit smaller to reduce the strain on the motor.
put your meat in the freezer til it's nearly frozen,it grinds better.
well worth the money if you're not doing it on a commercial scale.
I've not used the sausage attachment as I have a manual one but a review on how it works would be great.
happy sausage making 😋

Thanks Phil. I hadn't thought of leaving the front nut loose till the head was fixed on the machine, I can see how that would make mounting the mincer head easier! I'll try cutting the meat a little smaller and hope that helps to prolong the life of the mincer - At this price I don't expect it to last forever. I do chill my meat right off before mincing already (Just as I do the mincer head) but thanks for that tip. I'm looking at buying a set of three sausage funnels as the one supplied only does thick sausages which I don't always want, either that or get a manual sausage stuffer with the three different sized nozzles.
As I have said for the money I am quite happy with it but I'm sure that time will tell!

I had thought of the Kenwood Chef one but as I don't have a Kenwood Chef that would have meant buying one of those as well. However I know the mixer I have will not last for ever so maybe when it needs replacing a Kenwood Chef might be on the cards as I know they are built to last!

hi .
I've had mine over 2 year's and it's still ok.
just take it easy,I do around 8 kg at a time, then let the motor cool down.
definitely worth the money.
ps don't put it in the dishwasher as it tarnished the aluminium.

Phil - I only do around 3 or 4 kilos per week unless I have been "donated" a deer carcass so no problem there. It did say on the instructions not to run it for more than 10 minutes and then let the motor cool down before using it again. If it lasts for the year's warranty I will be happy for the price I paid for it!
As for not putting it in the dish washer - The only dish washer we have the wife calls Pete - She has said that she is going to give me a new pair of "Marigolds" for Christmas! ;)

Surprised me too - I’ll clarify a bit though.
Modern kitchen aid classic seem to start at 250w. Kenwood at 750w.
There are loads of variants so some might be better than others, but the moral of the story is don’t think kitchen aid is a super tough machine without checking it.

There are some great value older ones with loads of life left in them, that often come with things like mincers that have barely been used. I’m a convert 🤣

Thank you. It seems like great value.
